Alexander George Karras was an American professional football player, professional wrestler, sportscaster, and actor. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection playing defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL), where he played from 1958 to 1970. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the Centennial class.
Marian University is a private Roman Catholic university in Indianapolis, Indiana. Founded in 1851 by the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, the college moved to Indianapolis in 1937. Marian was known as Marian College from 1936 until 2009, when it was renamed Marian University.

Justin Lee Hamilton is an American football coach and former player who is the assistant defensive backs coach for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech and also served as their defensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021.
The Indiana Hoosiers football program represents Indiana University Bloomington in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football and in the Big Ten Conference. The Hoosiers have played their home games at Memorial Stadium since 1960. The team has won the Big Ten Championship twice, once in 1945 and again in 1967. The Hoosiers have appeared in 12 bowl games, including the 1968 Rose Bowl. Six Indiana players have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, including Zora Clevinger, Bill Ingram, Pete Pihos, George Taliaferro, John Tavener, and Anthony Thompson, who was also National Player of the Year in 1989. The Hoosiers are currently led by head coach Curt Cignetti. Currently, the Indiana Hoosiers hold the record for most lifetime losses by a Division I team (713), and the third worst winning percentage (42%) of any Division I team with over 1000 games played. Since 1895, only six of the 25 head coaches have left Indiana University with a winning record. The last one being Bo McMillan in 1947.
The Purdue Boilermakers football team represents Purdue University in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of college football. Purdue plays its home games at Ross–Ade Stadium on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The head coach of Purdue is Ryan Walters, the 37th head coach in Purdue history. The Boilermakers compete in the Big Ten Conference as a member of the West Division. Purdue had most recently been a part of the Leaders Division of the Big Ten, but moved to the West Division in 2014 due to conference expansion.
Theodore George Karras Sr. was a National Football League (NFL) player. He played for nine seasons with four teams, winning a championship with the Chicago Bears in 1963 as a guard. Karras played college football for Indiana University. His son, Ted Karras Jr., played college football for Northwestern University and in the NFL for the Washington Redskins in 1987 and is currently the head football coach at Marian University. His brothers, Lou Karras and Alex Karras, also played in the NFL. His grandson, Ted Karras III, played college football at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, played for the New England Patriots winning two Super Bowls and now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Walsh Cavaliers are the athletic teams that represent Walsh University, located in North Canton, Ohio, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Cavaliers compete as members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for 21 of their current 22 varsity sports. Two sports were added in the 2023–24 school year—the all-female cheerleading discipline of stunt, which the G-MAC first sponsored in 2022–23, and sprint football, a weight-restricted form of American football governed outside of the NCAA.
The Dayton Flyers are the intercollegiate athletic teams of the University of Dayton of Dayton, Ohio. All Flyers intercollegiate sports teams participate at the NCAA Division I level. The Hoosier College Conference (HCC) was a men's intercollegiate athletics conference founded in 1947 by eight members of the Indiana Intercollegiate Conference. After consisting solely of colleges in Indiana for 24 years, the conference changed its name in 1971 to the Hoosier-Buckeye Collegiate Conference (HBCC) to reflect the admission of schools in Ohio. It existed for another 15 years in its rebranded form.

He played college football at Illinois, and was selected in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, with whom he won two Super Bowl championships. He spent the 2020 season with the Miami Dolphins before returning to New England the next season.
The 1999 Saint Francis Cougars football team represented the University of Saint Francis, located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in the 1999 NAIA football season. They were led by head coach Kevin Donley, who served his 2nd year as the first and only head coach in the history of Saint Francis football. The Cougars played their home games at Cougar Stadium and were members of the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League (MEL). The Cougars finished in 1st place in the MSFA MEL division, receiving an automatic bid to the 1999 postseason NAIA playoffs.
The 2012 Marian Knights football team was an American football team that represented Marian University as a member of the Mid-States Football Association during the 2012 NAIA football season. In their sixth season under head coach Ted Karras Jr., the Knights compiled a 12–1 record and won the NAIA national championship, defeating Morningside, 30–27, in overtime in the NAIA National Championship Game.
James Willie Rowe III is an American football coach who is currently the defensive passing game coordinator for the University of South Florida. In 2021, he was the cornerbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts. A 15-year coaching veteran, Rowe has four seasons of experience in the NFL. He was a three-year letterwinner (2005–07) as a baseball player at South Florida.
