The Rajasthan cricket team is a cricket team which represents the Indian state of Rajasthan. Imran Ali was an Indian cricketer who played regularly for Vidarbha during the 1960s and 1970s. A talented junior player, he toured Ceylon with an India Schools representative side in April 1964, and made his first-class debut for Vidarbha during the 1964–65 season. Playing as a middle-order batsman, Imran established himself as a regular player in Vidarbha's Ranji Trophy team throughout the next decade, and during the 1968–69 season even played two matches for Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy, although without much success. He retired at the end of the 1976–77 season after thirteen seasons for Vidarbha, having captained the side in his final two seasons.

The 2016–17 Ranji Trophy is the 83rd season of the Ranji Trophy, the first-class cricket tournament in India. It is being contested by 28 teams divided into three groups. Groups A and B comprise nine teams and Group C comprises ten teams. The round 1 fixture between Rajasthan and Saurashtra was moved from Chennai to Vizianagaram because of the senior women's one-day league. The round 2 fixture between Jharkhand and Karnataka was moved from Tamil Nadu to Greater Noida because of the Kaveri River water dispute.
St Xavier's College Ground is a cricket ground in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram, India. The first recorded match on the ground was in 2014/15. It was used as a venue for a first-class match in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy tournament between Assam and Vidarbha.
The Central Provinces and Berar cricket team represented the Indian province and state of Central Provinces and Berar in the Ranji Trophy from 1934–35 to 1949–50. The 2018–19 Ranji Trophy was the 85th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between November 2018 and February 2019. Vidarbha were the defending champions. The final took place between Vidarbha and Saurashtra, starting on 3 February 2019. Vidarbha defeated Saurashtra by 78 runs in the final, to become the sixth team in the tournament's history to retain their title.
