PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International or Telkom International, and commonly abbreviated as Telin, is an Indonesian carrier services and investment company and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia. It is an international telecommunication business serves as Telkom's business arms in managing and developing its business lines outside Indonesia. [1]

Operation

Telin manages several subsidiaries, Telekomunikasi Indonesia International Pte. Ltd. in Singapore (Telin Singapore), Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (HongKong) Limited (Telin Hong Kong), Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (TL) S.A. (Telin Timor-Leste), Telekomunikasi Indonesia International Australia Pty. Ltd. (Telin Australia), Telkom Macau Limited (Telin Macau), Telkom Taiwan Limited (Telin Taiwan), Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd (Telin Malaysia), Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (USA), Inc. (Telin USA). In addition to those subsidiaries, Telin established a branch in Myanmar and a business unit in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Telin existence in several footprints worldwide will serve function as Telin main gateways to international telecommunication market.

On September 9, 2013, Telin released the ownership of 29.71% shares of the Scicom (MSC) Berhad Malaysia, the largest contact centre for outsourcing service providers in Malaysia.

On September 25, 2014, Telin acquired 75% shares of Contact Centres Australia (CCA) makes it entitles as Telin Australia's subsidiary. CCA is a Sydney-based company who runs Business Process Outsourcing specifically Contact centre service for fundraising (not for profit organisation) and commercial business.

Telin provides network business, international information-telecommunication services, including the international telecommunication services for and on behalf of Telkom as well as its international telecommunication services.

Telin also owns licences for the fixed and closed network establishment in Indonesia as well as the Facility Based Operator (FBO) licence in Singapore and Unified Carrier Licence (UCL) in Hong Kong.

Aside from its footprints and products and services, Telin owns numbers of Infrastructures divided into Point of Presence (PoP), Submarine Cable Systems, and World Hub of Command Centre (WHOCC).

  1. Batam Singapore Cable System (BSCS), a submarine cable system connecting Batam Centre station (Batam) to Telin station in Singapore. The total system length is around 98 km, connecting the landing sites through six fibre pair cables, with stub cable is provided for future extension of the system.
  2. Dumai Malacca Cable System (DMCS), is a submarine telecommunications cable system linking Indonesia and Malaysia across the Strait of Malacca
  3. Southeast –Asia Japan Cable (SJC), an 8,900-kilometre cable system, which could further extend to 9,700 kilometres.
  4. America Asia Gateway (AAG), a 20,000-km, high-bandwidth fibre optic submarine cable system that will connect Southeast Asia to the United States.
  5. Southeast Asia Middle East Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5), an undersea cable system with an approximate length 20.000 km passing Southeast Asia to Europe. Status: Construction to operate in 2016.
  6. Southeast Asia – United States (SEA-US), an undersea cable system with an approximate length 15.000 km directly connecting Manado, Indonesia to LA, USA. It has already operated since September 2017.
  7. Indonesia Global Gateway (IGG), an undersea cable system connecting Manado and Dumai, a project collaboration between Telkom and Telin.

Telkomsel Indonesian wireless network provider

PT Telekomunikasi Selular is an Indonesian wireless network provider founded in 1995 and is owned by Telkom Indonesia (65%) and Singtel (35%). It is headquartered in South Jakarta.

2006 Hengchun earthquakes

The 2006 Hengchun earthquakes occurred on December 26 at 20:26 and 20:34 local time off the southwest coast of Taiwan in the Luzon Strait, which connects the South China Sea with the Philippine Sea. The International Seismological Centre measured the shocks at 7.0 and 6.9 on the moment magnitude scale. The earthquakes not only caused casualties and building damage, but several submarine communications cables were cut, disrupting telecommunication services in various parts of Asia.

PT XL Axiata Tbk, is an Indonesia-based mobile telecommunications services operator headquartered at Jakarta. It is the second largest mobile telecommunications company in Indonesia. The operator's coverage includes Java, Bali, and Lombok as well as the principal cities in and around Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. XL offers data communication, broadband Internet, mobile communication and 3G services over GSM 900 and GSM 1800 networks.

Pacnet

Pacnet was a global telecommunications service provider between 2008 and 2015. It was formed from the operational merger of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet on 8 January 2008. It was owned by a private investor group comprising Ashmore Investment Management Limited, Spinnaker Capital Limited and Clearwater Capital Partners. Its acquisition by the Australian telecommunications company Telstra was announced at the end of 2014, and completed in April 2015.

It will be about 10,400 kilometres (6,500 mi) long. The capacity will be 54.8 terabits per second. The APG cable consortium includes Facebook, CAT Telecom, China Telecom, China Mobile International, China Unicom, Chunghwa Telecom, KT Corporation, LG Uplus, NTT Communications, StarHub, Global Transit, Viettel and VNPT. The APG cable system was scheduled to be ready for service in 2016.

Bay of Bengal Gateway

The Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) is a submarine communications cable providing a direct trunk connection between Barka and Penang (Malaysia) with four branches to Fujairah (UAE), Mumbai (India), Colombo and Chennai (India). The project was carried out by a consortium that includes Vodafone, Omantel, Etisalat, AT&T, China Telecom, Telstra, Reliance Jio Infocomm, Dialog and Telekom Malaysia. Construction was started in May 2013 and was completed by the end of 2014. From Penang the system is connected via a terrestrial connection to Singapore. The length of the submarine Cable system is 5,934 km from Barka to Penang, with a 216 km branch to Fujairah, 426 km branch to Mumbai, 142 km branch to Colombo and a 1,322 km branch to Chennai, totaling a total length of 8,040 km.

Telin Singapore was incorporated on 6 December 2007 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia International. As a member of TELKOM Group, Telin's strategic focus is to provide Infocom and connectivity services from Indonesia and beyond. Telin was awarded a Facilities-Based Operator (FBO) License in May 2008 from Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (iDA). Telin's Goal is to increase the operating reach and services footprint for TELKOM Group.
