Theris M. Gabinski (born November 30,1938) was an American politician woh served as a Chicago alderman representing the 32nd ward from 1969 to 1998 and as Democratic committeeman from the city's 32nd ward from 1988 to 2008.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Northern Illinois University in 1962. He became a teacher at Ridgewood High School in suburban Norridge before becoming an aide to Congressman Dan Rostenkowski. Rostenowski later backed him for an appointment to Alderman for the 32nd ward after Robert Sulski became a judge on the Circuit Court of Cook County. [1] He took office the same day as Edward M. Burke. [2]
During the Council Wars he sided with the all-white Vrdolyak 29 in opposition of Mayor Harold Washington. In 1988,he was appointed Democratic Committeeman for the ward;succeeding his mentor Rostenkowski. In the 1987 election when Washington took a majority on the council,he defeated Washington-ally Emma Lozano Rico,the sister of labor activist Rudy Lozano,with 75% of the vote. [1]
From 1988 until 1998,Gabinski was the city's Vice Mayor. [3] [4] Gabinski was elected Vice Mayor by the Chicago City Council after they voted to oust David Orr over his attempts to make reforms that would have held the council's committees more accountable for the budgets they manage. [3]
He resigned from the council before the end of his eighth term and was succeeded by Theodore Matlak on May 21,1998. [5] In 2008,he stepped down as Democratic Committeeman allowing his almost opponent in 2004,John Fritchey,to run with token opposition. [6]

David Duvall Orr is an American Democratic politician who served as the Cook County Clerk from 1990 to 2018. Orr previously served as alderman for the 49th ward in Chicago City Council from 1979 to 1990. He briefly served as acting Mayor of Chicago from November 25 to December 2,1987,following the death of Mayor Harold Washington. Orr retired from the office of Cook County Clerk in 2018,opting not to run for an eighth term.

Edward Michael Burke is an American politician who is the alderman of Chicago's 14th ward. A member of the Democratic Party,he was first elected to the Chicago City Council in 1969,and represents part of the city's Southwest Side. Chair of Council's Committee on Finance,Burke has been called Chicago's "most powerful alderman" by the Chicago Sun-Times. Bernard "Berny" L. Stone was alderman of the 50th Ward of the City of Chicago,Illinois from 1973 to 2011. The 50th Ward encompasses part of Chicago's far North Side and includes the West Ridge,West Rogers Park and Peterson Park neighborhoods. First elected to the Council in 1973,Stone was the second longest-serving alderman. His tenure spanned the terms of seven Mayors,from Richard J. Daley to Richard M. Daley. Stone was also Vice Mayor of the City of Chicago from 1998 to 2011.
Sandra Lee Jackson is an American politician. She was elected to the Chicago City Council as an alderman of the 7th ward of the City of Chicago in the 2007 municipal elections held on February 27,2007. She succeeded Darcel A. Beavers who had been appointed by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley after the 2006 November elections to succeed her father William Beavers,Jackson's rival,as alderman of the 7th Ward. Jackson resigned from Chicago City Council,effective January 15,2013. On February 20,2013,Jackson pleaded guilty to one count of filing false tax returns,and on August 14,2013 was sentenced to one year in prison.
Rudy Lozano was a labor activist and community organizer from Little Village,Chicago,Illinois. Lozano was important in organizing "Black-Brown unity" in the election of Harold Washington,the first African American mayor of Chicago. Lozano was murdered shortly after Washington's election,which was "a severe setback for the Chicago Mexican community,[who] lost a dynamic,rising political star and their major liaison in the Washington camp."
Toni Lynn Preckwinkle is an American politician and the current County Board President in Cook County,Illinois,United States. She was first elected as President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners,the executive branch of Cook County government,in November 2010 and became the first woman elected to this position.
