He played four seasons in the NBA for the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, and the Los Angeles Clippers, before starting coaching in 2017.

The Bulls traded Theis to the Houston Rockets in August 2021, who in turn traded Theis back to the Celtics in February 2022, before being traded to the Pacers in July 2022. Green has won three gold medals with the United States at the junior level and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup. Green was selected by the Houston Rockets with the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. He is the third player in the NBA of Filipino descent, following Jordan Clarkson and Raymond Townsend.
