The Texas House of Representatives 57th district represents central and southern portions of Denton County, ranging from west to east. The district is currently represented by Richard Hayes, who was first elected in 2022. [1] [2]
The district includes all of Little Elm, Corinth, Lake Dallas, Argyle, and Ponder. [3]
District 57 contains a portion of major highway I-35, while US 380 acts as a northern boundary. The Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge connects the smaller eastern part of the district, to the much larger western part of the district on the other side of Lewisville Lake.
The district borders Texas House District 106 to the east, 63 to the south, and 64 to both the north and the west.

Denton County is located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 906,422, making it the seventh-most populous county in Texas. The county seat is Denton. The county, which was named for John B. Denton, was established in 1846. Denton County constitutes part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. In 2007, it was one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States.
Little Elm is a city in Denton County, Texas, United States, and a part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. It is an extended suburb of Denton; its population was 46,453 as of the 2020 census. In 2000, the census population was at 3,646. By the 2010 census, the city total had jumped to 25,898, making Little Elm one of the fastest-growing municipalities by percentage in Texas since 2000. The July 1, 2021 census estimates Little Elm's population as 51,042.
The Colony is a city in Denton County, Texas, United States, and a suburb of Dallas. The population was 44,534 at the 2020 census.
Lewisville is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, predominantly within Denton County with a small part lying within Dallas County. As a suburban community within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, the 2020 census tabulated a population of 111,822.

Steve Stockman won the general election, and represented the new district. On December 9, 2013, Stockman announced that he would not seek reelection in 2014, and would instead challenge incumbent John Cornyn in the Republican senatorial primary, and was succeeded in the U.S. House by Brian Babin.
