District 82 is a district in the Texas House of Representatives. It has been represented by Republican Tom Craddick since 1993 (though he has served consecutive terms in the house since 1969). [1]

Kenneth Michael Conaway is an American politician who was the U.S. representative for Texas's 11th congressional district from 2005 to 2021. He is a member of the Republican Party. The district Conaway represented is located in West Texas and includes Midland, Odessa, San Angelo, Brownwood, and Granbury. Conaway led the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections after the Intelligence Committee chair, Devin Nunes, recused himself. Aside from serving as the chair of the House Ethics Committee, he served as the chair of the House Agriculture Committee, and later its ranking member. Conaway indicated in July 2019 that he would not be seeking reelection. Conaway was succeeded by fellow Republican August Pfluger.

Thomas Russell Craddick is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives representing the 82nd district. Craddick was Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives from January 2003 to January 2009. He was the first Republican to serve as Speaker since Reconstruction.

Midland High School is a public high school located in Midland, Texas and is part of Midland Independent School District. The original Midland High School was built in 1926 and was moved twenty-three years later to a new building in 1949 where it currently sits today. In recent years, Midland High School has received major renovations including complete asbestos removal and new West Wing that houses science, math, and social studies classroom. Also, renovations to their large gym including new floors and new bleachers. The practice field of the Midland High football team Memorial Stadium has also received a new turf.

A resident of Hale Center, Texas, Laney served as Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives from 1993 to 2003; as of 2023, Laney is the most recent Democrat to serve in this role.

Midland College (MC) is a public community college in Midland, Texas. It was established as an independent junior college in 1972 and held its first classes on campus in 1975. Since that time, the campus has expanded to a 704,752-square-foot (65,473.6 m2) main campus on 224 acres (0.91 km2) in Midland. It also has numerous locations in other parts of Midland and in Fort Stockton, the Pecos County seat.

Hector Steven Garcia, known as H. S. "Buddy" Garcia, is a former interim member of the Texas Railroad Commission, the elected body which regulates the oil and natural gas industries in Texas. Garcia was appointed to the commission by Governor Rick Perry on April 12, 2012, to replace Elizabeth Ames Jones, who resigned to run unsuccessfully for the Texas State Senate. Garcia's appointment expired a few days after the November 6 general election, and he was succeeded by fellow Republican Christi Craddick, who defeated a Democrat, Dale Henry, to claim the position for six years. Craddick is the daughter of the former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Tom Craddick of Midland.

Christi Leigh Craddick is an American politician. She is one of three members of the Railroad Commission of Texas, the elected regulatory body over oil, natural gas, utilities, and surface mining first established in 1891. She is a Republican. The commission ended all controls over railroads in 2005 but is still known as the "Railroad Commission" for historical reasons.
