The American Adventure is the second album by UK prog-pop duo The Electric Soft Parade, released in 2003 on BMG UK & Ireland. The album was seen as a departure from their previous effort Holes in the Wall (DB Records, 2002) and paved the way for their third full-length LP, No Need To Be Down-Hearted.
The American Adventure received mixed reviews upon release. Jack Rabid of Allmusic noted a distinct change of sound from that of the band's debut album, Holes in the Wall, but it was a change that he felt worked to good effect; "They abandon any semblance of their first LP's clockwork consistency for a bumpy ride of an LP that shifts gears from song to song, or mid-song abruptly but successfully throughout". [1] He went on to draw comparisons with the baroque music of The Beach Boys and "'70s Pink Floyd comfortable numbness". [1] Andrew McGregor writing for the BBC praised the uniqueness of The Electric Soft Parade sound, but found fault with the album's lyrical content; "there's surely no need to adopt their 'stating-the-bleeding-obvious in a Moon/June/Balloon stylee' approach. "Existing is easy, living is hard" from the otherwise fine closing track "Exist" is a cliché too far, with unfortunate echoes of "Why" by Annie Lennox." [2] In her review for RTÉ, Anne-Louise Foley labelled the album "dull", stating that it is "nowhere as interesting as it thinks it is" and singling out "The American Adventure" as the main offender in her 2-star review; "[t]he White brothers shoot themselves in the foot with the overblown prog monstrosity that is the title track. Long and meandering (though it does manage to escape from the sound swamp near the end), it's the kind of song that only a mother or devout PR man could love." [3] Despite her reservations about the album as a whole, she found merit in the LP's second single, "Lose Yr Frown", declaring it "the best thing on offer, with a catchy chorus that trips off Alex's guitar with an upbeat ease. It's what the young band do best and they should remember this". [3] Stylus Magazine's Kilian Murphy thought that The American Adventure was despondently disappointing overall, citing "time spent on the road plugging their debut long-player" as the over-riding factor which had "caused the Parade to lose some of their fizz", but he also felt that the album also had its good points, too; "Thankfully, not everything on the American Adventure suffers from such despondency. Opening track "Things I've Done Before" may not let much lyrical light in (...), but it's equipped with a killer riff and a sense of momentum that is lost later in the album (...) while "Bruxellisation" is a rich, heartbreaking ballad in the Doves mould." [4] Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian declared the album musically "adventurous" in her complimentary review, and, although the songwriting lacked uniformity, the album was a success; [5]
Despite the plethora of ideas (...), what makes the record work is its sense of seclusion. No matter where they rove – to the muzzy fringes of psychedelia on Lose Yr Frown, on Headacheville, to matte-and-chrome places that wouldn't be out of place in an aftershave ad – it's always their private party. Frighteningly assured and self-aware, the Whites are still the Brit siblings to watch.
Josh Rogan, writing for Yahoo! Music, described The American Adventure as "a roller coaster ride well worth taking" that had "clearly been lovingly constructed and largely well executed" with "a strong sense of focus and quality control". [6]

Thomas White is an English, Brighton-based songwriter, singer, musician, producer and visual artist. Along with their brother, Alex, they form the nucleus of psych-pop band The Electric Soft Parade. To date, they have released four albums and a six-track EP. They also contributes vocals and guitar to cult Brighton super-group Brakes, and drums and bass to Restlesslist and Clowns respectively.
That's Life is a studio album, released in 2005, by American country music artist Neal McCoy. It was released on his own 903 Music label. Three singles were released from this album: "Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On", the first of these three, reached #10 on the Hot Country Songs charts in 2005, becoming McCoy's first Top Ten hit since "The Shake" in 1997. "The Last of a Dying Breed" peaked at #35, while "Tail on the Tailgate" failed to chart. Produced by Okkervil River's Will Sheff, the album also features the members of Okkervil River on most songs as Erickson's backing band. The album also includes field recordings of songs from Erickson's time in a Texas insane asylum. It was released by ANTI- in America and by Chemikal Underground in Europe.
National Ransom is the 2010 studio album by Elvis Costello. It was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with American songwriter and producer T Bone Burnett, and was released on 25 October 2010 on the Hear Music label. The album was received positively, earning a score of 79/100 on the review aggregate website Metacritic.
Eleven is the eleventh studio album by American country music singer Martina McBride, released on October 11, 2011, through Republic Nashville. The title of the album was inspired by the fact that it is McBride's eleventh album, it has eleven tracks and its release date. A deluxe edition of the album was also made available exclusively at Target stores. It featured slightly different cover art, with a blue fade at the bottom instead of white, and included four bonus tracks, as well as music videos for "Teenage Daughters" and "I'm Gonna Love You Through It". As of March 2012 the album has sold over 150,000 copies in the US. On July 3, 2012 the four Deluxe Bonus Tracks were released on iTunes as individual singles.
Back to the Start is the third solo release from Peter Baldrachi. Eleven of the twelve tracks appearing on the album were released on 2011’s Tomorrow Never Knows in September 2011. It was remixed by Ed Stasium, in February 2012. An additional track, “Picture On My Wall” which first appeared as a B-side, was also remixed with additional parts added by Stasium, and included on the album. The record has earned positive reviews from publications such as The Big Takeover, GhettoBlaster magazine, and PowerPopaholic.
