The Atheopagan Society is a online non-profit [3] religious organization [4] dedicated to the non-theistic form of neopaganism as defined by Mark Alexander Green [5] [6] [3] who is the founder. [7] [8]
The society is a new religious movement and rooted in environmentalism, egalitarianism, feminism, anti-racism, and anti-capitalism. [4] The religion was founded in 2005 also by Mark A. Green. [9] It is also defined as godless paganism. [10] The followers are considered atheopagans.
The Atheopagan Society was founded by Mark A. Green, [5] an atheist, activist, poet, musician and writer, [11] on August 5, 2012. Mark A. Green is an atheist who envisioned a non-theistic form of neopaganism in 2005. In 2009, Green wrote an essay that described it's beliefs. [9] The beliefs of the religion were written in the book, Atheopaganism: An Earth-honoring Path Rooted in Science. [8] The book was published in October 2019. [11]
The Atheopagan Suntree is the logo of the religion and society. [5] It features a green five-branched tree against an eight-rayed yellow sun. The eight rays represent the holidays on the Wheel of the Year and the five branches represent how five in addition to eight make thirteen which represents the 13 Atheopagan Principles. [12] Various symbols were submitted for a contest to decide which logo would represent the religion. [13] The logo was chosen in August 2018.

The religion also has the Four Pillars of Atheopaganism which are Life, Truth, Beauty, and Love. [14] The holidays that are celebrated are Riverain, Beltane, Yule, Brightening, High Spring, May Day, Midsummer, Summer's Waning, Harvest, and Hallows. [15] The holidays are flexible and can be modified by atheopagans. [16] Magic is practiced as a psychological technique made to change attitudes, emotions, and behaviors. [17] Rituals are practiced but do not involve deities or the supernatural. [18]
