The Last King of Scotland is a 2006 historical drama film directed by Kevin Macdonald from a screenplay by Peter Morgan and Jeremy Brock. Based on Giles Foden's 1998 novel, its plot depicts the dictatorship of Ugandan President Idi Amin through the perspective of Nicholas Garrigan, a fictional Scottish doctor. The film stars Forest Whitaker, James McAvoy, Kerry Washington, Simon McBurney, and Gillian Anderson. The title of the film refers to Amin's claim of being the King of Scotland.
Usama "Osam" Nyanzi Mukwaya is a Ugandan screenwriter, film director, producer, actor and former television host. His major films include Bala Bala Sese, directed by Lukyamuzi Bashir with which Mukwaya is credited as the film's writer and producer. The film was nominated at the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Film in an African Language.
Raymond Rushabiro is a Ugandan film actor, and stage actor. He broke through in his acting career with Uganda's most famous stage group, the Ebonies, appearing in a number of their plays. Rushabiro is also seen in Kweezi Kaganda's Any cow will do alongside former Namasagali old students that was shown at the National Theater of Uganda. His first cinema appearance was as Kasirivu in the movie Bala Bala Sese directed by Lukyamuzi Bashir. He is also appeared in supporting roles in the 2016 Ugandan film The Only Son, Situka (2015) and as a patriarch of the Muwonge family in 5 @Home on Fox Life. He worked on other films and television series including Freedom (2016), Girl from Mparo (2016) and Kyaddala (2019).

The film premiered at the 38th Durban International Film Festival in South Africa. It held a special screening at the 4th Edition of the Euro-Uganda Film Festival on 17 June 2018 courtesy of the British Council.

Set in a present day high school life, Kyaddala a Luganda word for "It's Real", focuses on real life social issues that affect young people across Africa and their attempts to overcome those issues. The series features actors and actresses from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria. Kyaddala premiered on 27 September 2019 at Kingdom Kampala.
Kony: Order from Above is a 2017 Ugandan war film directed by Steve T. Ayeny. It was initially reported as being the Ugandan entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. However, it was later confirmed as not being selected as it could not meet the mandatory minimum requirements. It would have been Uganda's first-ever submission to the Oscars. It also received a nomination for Best Feature Film and Cinematography at the 2017 Uganda Film Festival Awards

A Kalabanda Ate My Homework is a Ugandan animation short film created by Robin Malinga and directed by his blood brother Raymond Malinga. The film stars Martha Kay, Faith Kisa with Patrick Salvador Idringi and Daniel Omara. It tells a story of Tendo a primary school pupil who came to school without her homework and when asked why she didn't hand in her homework, she gives an excuse that a Kalabanda ate her homework.

Sixteen Rounds is a 2021 Ugandan film written and directed by Loukman Ali starring Michael Wawuyo Jr. and Natasha Sinayobye. The short film premiered on YouTube on September 16, 2021 and marks the second installment to The Blind Date, an anthology of short films between Usama Mukwaya and Loukman Ali. The film's sound track is designed by long time collaborator, Andrew Ahuura and features songs by Keneth Mugabi and Fred Masagazi.
