The Castellows are an American neotraditional country music trio consisting of sisters Eleanor, Lily, and Powell Balkcom. [1] Eleanor and Powell are two of triplets. [2] Lily is their younger sister, about eighteen months junior. [3] Born in Georgetown, Quitman County, Georgia, [2] the sisters moved to Nashville in 2023 and signed a record deal with Warner Music Nashville and Warner Records. Their first EP, A Little Goes a Long Way , was released on February 9, 2024. Castellow was their great-grandmother's maiden name. [4]

Career

The Castellows began attracting attention in 2022 through posting cover song performances to their Instagram and TikTok accounts. [5] In January 2023, the group caught interest from insiders in the music industry. [6] The sisters had not considered a career in music until March of that year. [3] By the Spring, the trio had received interest from the industry nationwide. [7] In October, they signed a record deal with Warner Music Nashville and Warner Records, and released their debut single "No. 7 Road". [6] [8] This was followed by a cover of Leon Everette's "Hurricane" in November, [9] and "I Know It'll Never End" in January 2024. [10] Their debut EP, titled A Little Goes a Long Way and produced by Trina Shoemaker, was released on February 9. [11] The song "I Know It Will Never End" was nominated for the CMT digital-first performance of the year, at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. [12]

The band was founded in 1995 as 12 Gauge, which consisted of Mates, Pat Allingham (fiddle), Steven Swager, Chris Hartman (keyboards), Dan Binns (guitar), David Switzer (guitar), and Remi Barre (drums); Swager was replaced with Jeff Loberg early on. After recording under this name, the band moved to the United States in 1999 and renamed themselves to Emerson Drive. They released two albums for the former DreamWorks Records Nashville branch: Emerson Drive in 2002 and What If? in 2004. These accounted for their first hit singles in the United States: "I Should Be Sleeping", "Fall into Me", and "Last One Standing". After DreamWorks closed, Emerson Drive signed with Midas Records Nashville for the 2006 album Countrified, which produced their only American number-one single in "Moments". Dave & Sugar was a pop-styled American country music trio which enjoyed its peak success in the mid- to late-1970s. The trio consisted of lead singer Dave Rowland and initially on backing vocals, Vicki Hackeman and Jackie Frantz. Over time, the female members ("Sugar") of the group changed: Frantz was replaced by Sue Powell in 1977, who in turn was replaced by Jamie Kaye in 1980, while Hackeman was replaced by Melissa Dean in January 1979. Overall, Dave & Sugar charted 16 times on the Billboard country charts, including three No. 1 hits: "The Door Is Always Open", "Tear Time" and "Golden Tears". Powell also had two chart singles outside the group. Dave & Sugar were sometimes called "The country ABBA" because of their slickly produced sound as well as blend of male and female voices.

The Cadillac Three, originally known as The Cadillac Black, is an American rock band consisting of Jaren Johnston, Kelby Ray, and Neil Mason. All three members were originally in the band American Bang. The group has released three albums through Big Machine Records, and has charted three singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. In addition to their own work, Johnston has written singles for Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Steven Tyler, Dallas Smith, and Jake Owen.

Devin Dawson Durrett is an American country music singer and songwriter. He became known after filming a mashup of Taylor Swift songs with his fellow friend Louisa Wendorff on her YouTube channel, which gained popularity on YouTube. His debut single "All on Me" is also his first hit song. With the help of producer Jay Joyce, he signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2017. Dawson's "All on Me" has charted on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.
