Artlist Collection: The Dog and Friends (better known as The Dog and Friends or simply The Dog) is a franchise created by Artlist in Japan in 2000. [1] Initially known as Artlist Collection: The Dog, the franchise began as collection of calendars and postcards of dogs photographed with a fisheye lens. [1] Afterwards, the franchise became so popular that new animals such as cats, pigs, rabbits, ducks, hamsters, and birds were added to the collection. [2] In 2003, 4Kids Entertainment bought the rights for this franchise outside of Asia. [1] [3] In 2004, to celebrate 25 years of the McDonald's Happy Meal, toys of this franchise were sold as Happy Meals from April 2 to April 29. [4] Select locations featured dog adoption events. [5] They were sold once again the next year, but with "The Cat" plushes. [6] In 2003, the series introduced its first video game, The Dog Master, which was released exclusively in Japan and developed by Visit. [7] In 2006, The Dog: Happy Life was released, also exclusively in Japan, which was followed up by a 2007 adventure game, The Dog Island, [8] both developed by Yuke's. In 2009, the series also released a pet simulation game on mobile phones and smart phones. [9] In 2016, they were featured as themes for the Japanese Nintendo 3DS home menu. [10]

The Pretty Cure series is a Japanese magical girl anime franchise created by Izumi Todo and produced by ABC Television, Asatsu-DK and Toei Animation. Each series revolves around a group of magical girls known as Pretty Cures who battle against evil forces. Starting in February 2004 with Futari wa Pretty Cure, the franchise has seen many anime series, spanning nearly 1000 episodes to date, as well as spawning movies, manga, toys, and video games. Sumikko Gurashi (すみっコぐらし) is a set of fictional characters produced by the Japanese company San-X. The name directly translates to "life in the corner". The main Sumikko characters are Shirokuma, a polar bear who dislikes the cold, Penguin? who is unsure of being a penguin, Tonkatsu, a piece of leftover pork cutlet, Neko, a timid and anxious cat, and Tokage, a dinosaur who pretends to be a lizard. Minor Minikko characters include Furoshiki, a polka dot furoshiki cloth, Zassou, a weed with a positive attitude, and Tapioca, multi-colored leftover tapioca pearls. The characters were created by Yuri Yokomizo, a graphic designer working for San-X, and the first products were released in 2012. Their main inspiration was the feeling of comfort when one is near a corner, and they were based on Yokomizo's notebook doodles when she was a student. A wealth of merchandise, such as stationery, plush toys, and clothing, is sold. Books, mobile apps, and video games based on the franchise have also been produced. Three animated films with Sumikko Gurashi were released in 2019, 2021, and 2023.

Cattle Call Inc. is a Japanese game developer based in Tokyo, Japan. The company was established by former staff of Data East Corporation and is engaged in developing original console games as well as co-developing and porting games for other game companies.
