Licensing.biz is an online trade magazine published by Biz Media, a subsidiary of Datateam Media Group and based in Hertford, Hertfordshire. [2] Originally aimed at European members of the licensing industry, [3] it has since expanded to cover the trade worldwide.

History

Licensing.biz was founded in 2007 by Intent Media, which was acquired by NewBay Media in 2012. [4] At the time of its creation, the managing director and publisher was Stuart Dinsey. [5] Dinsey left the position in October 2013. [6]

As of 2016, Licensing.biz receives about 52,000 monthly readers from over one hundred countries. [7]

In 2018, NewBay was acquired by Future. [8]

In January 2019, Future sold some B2B brands (including Licensing.biz) to Datateam Media Group, Biz Media was formed as the parent company. [9]

Licensing.biz People Awards

On 30 April 2015, Licensing.biz introduced the People Awards ceremony, held in London. [10] On 11 March 2016, the second annual awards show was held in the same city, [11] hosted by BBC 6 Music presenter Shaun Keaveny. [12] The event recognises successful companies involved in the licensing business.

MCV/Develop is a UK trade magazine that focuses on the business aspects of the video game industry. It is published monthly by Biz Media, a subsidiary of Datateam Media Group and is available in print and digitally. Originally named MCV, it absorbed the assets of sister magazines in 2018, and changed its name to MCV/Develop in 2019.

Koch Media GmbH is a German-Austrian media company headquartered in Höfen, Tyrol, Austria, with an operating subsidiary based in Planegg, Germany. The company was founded in 1994 by Franz Koch and Klemens Kundratitz. The company operates video game publishing labels Deep Silver and Ravenscourt, the video game developers Warhorse Studios and Milestone, as well as a film distribution arm, Koch Films. Koch Media's parent company, Koch Media Holding, was acquired by Swedish holding company Embracer Group in February 2018.

Grainger Games Limited was a British video game retail chain based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Founded by Stephen Bowyer in 1996, it operated shops across Northern England and Scotland. In March 2018, due to financial issues, the company ceased trading and closed all of its 67 shops, leading to the redundancy of 400 employees.

Pocket Gamer is a video game website that focuses on mobile, portable and handheld games. The site launched in 16 November 2005 and is published and owned by UK company Steel Media Ltd. The site covers all major portable and mobile gaming formats, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Nintendo Switch and others. It was one of the first to cover the iPhone gaming market. The publication also hands out awards for handheld games to recognize them in several categories. The British newspaper The Guardian at one time syndicated a list of recommended mobile games from Pocket Gamer, especially the list of recommended games for each month. In the years since launch, Steel Media Ltd has created many brand spin-offs, including the industry-facing PocketGamer.biz site and a series of conferences called Pocket Gamer Connects.

NewBay Media, LLC was a magazine and website publisher founded in 2006 and headquartered in New York City.

Team17 Group plc is a British video game developer and publisher based in Wakefield, England. The venture was created in December 1990 through the merger of British publisher 17-Bit Software and Swedish developer Team 7. At the time, the two companies consisted of and were led by Michael Robinson, Martyn Brown and Debbie Bestwick, and Andreas Tadic, Rico Holmes and Peter Tuleby, respectively. Bestwick later became and presently serves as Team17's chief executive officer. After their first game, Full Contact (1991) for the Amiga, the studio followed up with multiple number-one releases on that platform and saw major success with Andy Davidson's Worms in 1995, the resulting franchise of which still remains as the company's primary development output, having developed over 20 entries in it.

Gamer Network British mass media company

Gamer Network Limited is a British mass media company based in Brighton. Founded in 1999 by Rupert and Nick Loman, it owns brands—primarily editorial websites—relating to video game journalism and other video game businesses. Its flagship website, Eurogamer, was launched alongside the company. In February 2018, Gamer Network was acquired by ReedPop.

Ninja Kiwi, previously known as Kaiparasoft Ltd, is a mobile and online video game developer founded in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2006 by brothers Chris and Stephen Harris. Ninja Kiwi's first game was a browser based game called Cash Sprint, developed on the Adobe Flash Platform. Since then, they have produced more than 60 games across platforms including Adobe Flash, Android, iOS, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and more recently, Steam. Their most well-known titles are the Bloons and Bloons Tower Defense games. In 2012, Ninja Kiwi purchased Digital Goldfish, a Dundee, Scotland-based developer, for an undisclosed sum.

Don't Nod Entertainment SA is a French video game developer based in Paris. Founded in June 2008, it started development on Remember Me (2013). Because of its poor return on investment, Dontnod resolved its financial situation with recourse to public funding to subsidise Life Is Strange (2015), whose successful release raised Dontnod's industry status. Other games they have developed include Vampyr, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, Life Is Strange 2, Twin Mirror, and Tell Me Why.

Digital Bros is an Italian company that develops, publishes, and sells video games on international markets. The group is active worldwide with offices in Italy and abroad in United Kingdom, the United States, France, Spain, Germany, China and Hong Kong.

Moonbug Entertainment is a media company based in London, with a second office in Los Angeles which creates, produces, and distributes children's video and audio content. Moonbug owns children's entertainment intellectual property, including the YouTube channels Cocomelon and Little Baby Bum and series such as Mia's Magic Playground and My Magic Pet Morphle.
