Trip hop is a musical genre that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, especially Bristol. It has been described as a psychedelic fusion of hip hop and electronica with slow tempos and an atmospheric sound, often incorporating elements of jazz, soul, funk, reggae, dub, R&B, and other forms of electronic music, as well as sampling from movie soundtracks and other eclectic sources.
Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws, better known by his stage name Tricky, is a British record producer and rapper. Born and raised in Bristol, south-west England, he began his career as an early member of the band Massive Attack alongside Robert Del Naja, Grant Marshall & Andrew Vowles. He embarked on a solo career with his debut album, Maxinquaye, in 1995. The release won Tricky popular acclaim and marked the beginning of a lengthy collaborative partnership with vocalist Martina Topley-Bird. He released four more studio albums before the end of the decade, including Pre-Millennium Tension and the pseudonymous Nearly God, both in 1996. He has gone on to release nine studio albums since 2000, most recently Fall to Pieces (2020). In 2016, he joined Massive Attack on stage for the first time in two decades while continuing his solo career.

The Isle of Wight Festival is a British music festival which takes place annually in Newport on the Isle of Wight, England. It was originally a counterculture event held from 1968 to 1970.
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. Campsites are available at both sites and weekend tickets include camping. Day tickets are also sold.
Fuji Rock Festival is an annual rock festival held in Naeba Ski Resort, in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The three-day event, organized by Smash Japan, features more than 200 Japanese and international musicians, making it the largest outdoor music event in Japan. In 2005, more than 100,000 people attended the festival.

The series of concerts are organised by the Forestry Commission, a British non-ministerial government department. The events are hosted in seven forest venues throughout the United Kingdom. The tour began in 2000, as part of an initiative to bring new audiences into forests, and encourage people to see their woodlands.
Jersey Live Music Festival was a music festival held annually at The Royal Jersey Showground in the parish of Trinity, Jersey between 2004 and 2016.
The Y Not Festival is an annual music festival held in Pikehall, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. It first took place in 2005 at a house party for around 120 people organized by Ralph Broadbent, who was planning a party in the garden of his parents' house, but had to relocate when his parents didn't go away as planned. For the first year, it went under the name of the Big Gin Festival. The main stage at the festival has retained this name as The Big Gin Stage. The following year, it was renamed Y Not Festival with the public being invited and with attendances increasing year on year and eventually relocating to its current site at Pikehall in Derbyshire. As a small independent festival, the event has won many awards and accolades, such as best small festival in 2012 and the prize for best grass roots event and best toilets at the 2011 UK Festival Awards. In 2016, it was sold to Global Radio's festival division, Broadwick Live, along with Truck Festival and the rest of Broadbent's company portfolio.

T in the Park 2012 was a three-day music festival which took place from 6–8 July 2012 in Balado, Kinross. The Stone Roses were announced as the first headline act on 8 November 2011, appearing on Saturday 7 July 2012. Snow Patrol and Kasabian were later confirmed to also be headlining on Friday 6 July and Sunday 8 July respectively. This year marks the first time all three days of the festival will have an equal capacity, after councillors granted a request to raise Friday's capacity by 10,000. This approval brings Friday in line with the festivals 85,000 capacity previously restricted to Saturday and Sunday.
