Jesse Malin is an American rock musician, guitarist, and songwriter. Starting his performing career in the New York hardcore band Heart Attack, and rising to prominence as vocalist of D Generation, he is currently a solo recording artist, having recorded numerous albums including the Lucinda Williams produced Sunset Kids. Over the course of his career, Malin has collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Ryan Adams and numerous other musicians.
The Fine Art of Self Destruction is Jesse Malin's debut solo album. Released on December 24, 2002 in the UK and January 28, 2003 in the United States. It was produced by Ryan Adams. The front cover photograph was taken at Delancey Street Subway, Manhattan, New York City.
The Finger was a hardcore punk band, formed by Ryan Adams and Jesse Malin, under the pseudonyms "Warren Peace" and "Irving Plaza" respectively. The name derived from notorious early/mid-1990s Raleigh, North Carolina rock band Finger, of which Adams was a big fan. Drummer Michael Wildwood's writing credits on "Lonely" and "Cornered" are listed under his actual name of "Michael Reich."

The North American version of the album, released on October 28, 2008, features a different track listing from the European release, including a newly recorded version of "You Can Make Them Like You," and Malin's previously released cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Hungry Heart."

The album was originally only released online, on June 3, 2008, and was released on CD on November 10, 2008. On the CD released by One Little Indian Records, the first thirteen tracks are from the live set; the final five tracks are studio recordings. The version of the CD released by Adeline Records contains fifteen live songs plus one studio recording unique to this version.

Sunset Kids is the eighth studio album by New York singer/songwriter Jesse Malin. It was released on August 30, 2019 by Wicked Cool Records and The Orchard. The album was produced by Lucinda Williams and Tom Overby, and features performances by Lucinda Williams, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Joseph Arthur.
