"Thriller" is a song by the American singer Michael Jackson. It was released as a single by Epic Records in November 1983 in the UK, and on January 23, 1984, in the US, as the seventh and final single from Jackson's sixth studio album of the same name. "Thriller" is a mix of post-disco and funk. The song was produced by Quincy Jones and written by Rod Temperton, who wanted to write a theatrical song to suit Jackson's love of film. Pattie Brooks is an American singer most frequently associated with the disco era. She was born in Fort Riley, Kansas to a military family. Her first break came in 1968 when she auditioned for the chorus on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In the next decade she became a sought-after backing singer, appearing on the Bobby Darin Show and touring with, among others Helen Reddy. She sang backing vocals on Donna Summer's album I Remember Yesterday.

Komiko was a short-lived electronic music studio group signed to SAM Records, an independent label in New York City. According to Allmusic, Carol Williams was once a member of this group but the vocals are attributed to unnamed female personnel, most likely a guest vocalist. Their so-far only song "Feel Alright," written by Nick Braddy, was a collaboration between record producers Darryl Payne and Gary Turnier. Record sleeve note ascribes production credit to Totally Funked Up Productions, Inc. which is a company based in Delaware.
