The Loom is a Brooklyn-based indie rock band. Formed in New York City in 2006, the band consists of members playing a variety of instruments including guitars, mandolin, French horn, trumpet, banjo, ukulele, percussion, keyboards, and male/female vocals. [1]

The band released their debut EP "At Last Light" in 2008 and subsequently went on tour and played Pop Montreal and CMJ Music Festivals. [2] [3] In early 2010 they completed their first full-length album entitled "Teeth", recorded at Maverick Studios in Chinatown, New York, with producer Allen Farmelo and mastered at Masterdisk Studios, with album artwork by Asthmatic Kitty artist DM Stith. [4]

The Loom played 8 shows at SXSW Music Fest 2010, including the Muzzle of Bees Backyard Barbecue with Rural Alberta Advantage, The Love Language, and others. [5] They were featured in Paste Magazine's "Best of What's Next", [6] and of their live show The New Yorker said, "The beloved Loom...have lately been guiding their chamber-folk sound to decidedly louder sonic territory." [7]

In summer and fall of 2010 they toured the Midwest, east coast, and southern US as well as Canada, including CMJ and SXSW Music Festivals. [8] They were called "The Next Big Thing" by the New York Times. [9]

The Loom released their first full-length album, "Teeth", on November 1, 2011 on Crossbill Records. [10] The single "For the Hooves that Gallop, And the Heels that March" debuted on NPR with their first music video. [11] The Loom went on an album release tour in fall 2011 in the eastern half of the US, and they are continuing to tour in spring 2012 including the west coast and SXSW as well as other music festivals.

In December 2011, they released a cover of the popular New Year's Eve song Auld Lang Syne, which was featured on The A.V. Club. [12]

The Lovely Sparrows is an Austin, Texas based indie rock band currently on Abandoned Love Records and founded by Shawn Jones. Their sound is categorized as indie rock, folk rock, experimental rock, alternative rock, or just rock, blending lush, complex arrangements with sing-along choruses that bring to mind folk-inflected pop and well-written novellas. Pulling Up Floors, Pouring on (New) Paint, released in 2006, captures the gorgeous melodies and warm, organic maladies of front man Shawn Jones. The September 2008 release saw the band embark on its most extensive touring to date, which included CMJ Music Marathon, Pop Montreal and South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. The Lovely Sparrows premiered the music video directed and animated by Eric Power of Clear Productions for "Year of the Dog" off Bury the Cynic during the 2009 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. The video was honored as one of the 25 best music videos of the year 2008 by MusicForants.com. Bury the Cynics was on the best of list by Fensepost, The Bomb Shelter (#11), the Austinist (#5), Side One: Track One v1 (#7) and Side One: Track One v2 (#1).

The project has included other members, such as James Harvey on drums, Marc Regueiro-McKelvie on guitar and Damian Sullivan on bass guitar and synthesiser. Teeth & Tongue released four albums, Monobasic, Tambourine, Grids and Give Up on Your Health, before disbanding early in 2017. The stage name had also been used for Cornelius' solo performances, but since 2017 she has performed and released material under her own name and relocated to Los Angeles late that year.
