The Marcy Brothers is the self-titled third studio album by American country music trio The Marcy Brothers. It was released on July 9, 1991, via Atlantic Records.

"Why Not Tonight" was previously recorded by American country group Atlanta and was released as the second single off their self-titled 1985 album, peaking at No. 58 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart on Billboard .

"Call Me Lonely" was previously recorded by singer-songwriter Bill Chinnock with his group Billy & the American Suns for their 1990 album Thunder in the Valley.

"Everybody Needs a Hero" was previously recorded by Gene Watson and was the second single off of his 1987 album Honky Tonk Crazy, peaking at No. 28 on Billboard's country singles chart.

"She Can" was previously recorded by Alabama for their 1989 album Southern Star .

"By the Dawn's Early Light" was previously recorded by Marty Haggard and was released as the B-side to his single "Trains Make Me Lonesome".

"The Lady I Love" was later recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys for their 1999 album Voices, and was retitled "Lady My Love."

"Don't Tell My Heart" was later recorded by Billy Ray Cyrus and was retitled as "Achy Breaky Heart". It was released as the lead-off single to his 1992 debut album Some Gave All and went to number one for five weeks on Billboard's country singles chart.

Critical reception

In a review of the album for AllMusic, Jason Ankeny praised the Marcy Brothers' original version of "Don't Tell My Heart." [1]
