Masterboy Family is the debut studio album by German eurodance group Masterboy. It was released on September 19, 1991, by Polydor.
In 1989, musician Enrico Zabler and DJ Tommy Schleh met in a London club and decided to create a music project. In January 1990, they founded Masterboy and released their first single, "Dance To The Beat," which unexpectedly became a hit and stayed in the German charts for 16 weeks. Later, David Atterberry and Mendy Lee joined the group.
At the end of 1990, they released a new hit, "Shake Up And Dance," which topped the charts in early 1991. The band members began working on their debut album while actively performing at events and in the media. Masterboy was gaining popularity, and they were invited to perform at private parties.
In 1991, the group became known across Europe and released the album The Masterboy Family. The British band Pet Shop Boys offered to release "Shake Up And Dance" in the UK. Soon after, the third single "I Need Your Love" came out. [1] [ non-primary source needed ]
