It is a story about an architect Amay Mehta , a workaholic bachelor living in Mumbai. He wants to show his designs to his boss but stops himself everytime since he was underconfident or there was something which was lacking in his project . His girlfriend Zara tells him that he should not be afraid since she believes that he is one of the best in their firm. One day he gets a letter from his sister informing him that their mother has passed away . He goes to his hometown for his mother's funeral. He couldn't stand his father Mr Shiv Mehta who was about to go with his daughter to USA after the loss of his beloved wife. But his ticket got delayed for two days and they both land in Mumbai . Before leaving, Amay's sister convinces both Amay and Shiv to cooperate with each other for the next 48 hours. Shiv is moved to Amay's house only to find that his living condition is worse since he is ambitious but his working habits affected both his family and personal life , they both argue with each other to whether sleep on sofa or bed. Amay wanted to take care of his father and Shiv wanted to make his son feel comfortable so that he could work properly, but the situation got worse when Shiv's childish and stubborn behavior affected Amay's temper like him putting his hand on car's hand brake , helping himself to pull luggage. One night the father-son's drinking conversation turns into an argument when Shiv insults Amay's profession of being an architect . Shiv wanted to meet Zara so they all decided to go for a dinner where Shiv's stubborn nature didn't allow Amay to pay the bill because the treat was on him but still Amay pays the bill , realizing this he angrily stands up and leaves but he leaves behind his bag containing passport and ticket. On returning, Amay's car almost gets crashed when he presseses the handbrake. This time he couldn't stop himself from screaming at his father and they both had a fight where his father told him that the life isn't complete without family, whom he had left behind for a better living but got nothing , this was the main reason why they both hadn't talked for a while . After leaving, Shiv encountered a woman whom he thought as his wife and followed her but met with an accident. Upon hearing this, Amay rushed to the hospital where he found Zara , blaming him, saying that you're the son, you have some responsibilities towards your father. The story came to an end when Amay showed his project to all team claiming that shifting towards western architecture is not good and shifting our culture towards West is wrong. His project finally got approved, he visited to his hometown where he thanked his father that you're scolding was nothing but a lesson. A father doesn't scold his child but instead tries to teach them a lesson but a child doesn't understand that. They both go to the airport, seeing each other for the last time. In the end , Amay went back to his house, where everything was clean and renovated. He turned off the light to a black screen.
