The Pennings is a 2.7 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Eye in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Mid Suffolk District Council.^[1]^[2]

Eye is a small market town in the north of the English county of Suffolk. The town is around 4 miles (6 km) south of Diss, 17 ¹⁄₂ miles (28 km) north of Ipswich and 23 miles (37 km) southwest of Norwich. It lies close to the River Waveney which forms the border with Norfolk and is on the River Dove. Eye is twinned with the town of Pouzauges in the Vendée department of France.

Suffolk is an East Anglian county of historic origin in England. It has borders with Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west and Essex to the south. The North Sea lies to the east. The county town is Ipswich; other important towns include Lowestoft, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Felixstowe, one of the largest container ports in Europe.

This site on the east bank of the River Dove is managed as a hay meadow. Fauna on the river bank include kingfishers and water voles.^[1]

The River Dove is a river in the county of Suffolk. It is a tributary of the River Waveney starting near Bacton going through Eye to the Waveney.

The common kingfisher also known as the Eurasian kingfisher, and river kingfisher, is a small kingfisher with seven subspecies recognized within its wide distribution across Eurasia and North Africa. It is resident in much of its range, but migrates from areas where rivers freeze in winter.

The European water vole or northern water vole, is a semiaquatic rodent. It is often informally called the water rat, though it only superficially resembles a true rat. Water voles have rounder noses than rats, deep brown fur, chubby faces and short fuzzy ears; unlike rats their tails, paws and ears are covered with hair.

There is access from Ludgate Causeway, off Hoxne Road.

Alderman Canal West is a one hectare Local Nature Reserve in Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Ipswich Borough Council and managed by the Greenways Project.

Bobbits Lane is a 16.1 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Ipswich Borough Council and managed by the Greenways Project.

Bramford Meadows is a nine hectare Local Nature Reserve in Bramford, on the western outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Bramford Parish Council and managed by Bramford Openspaces Ltd.

Mill Stream Nature Reserve is a 4.7 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Rushmere St Andrew on the eastern outskirts of Ipswich in Suffolk. It is owned by Suffolk Coastal District Council and managed by the council together with Rushmere St Andrew Parish Council and The Greenways Countryside Project.
