The Prophecy is the fourth album by American thrash metal band Defiance, released in 2009. Unlike the previous two albums, Void Terra Firma and Beyond Recognition , the album is much more straight forward thrash metal, almost similar to Product of Society .
The album had some pretty lukewarm reviews by both critics and metal fans alike. For example, about.com responded to this album with,
"There will always be those bands out there who sadly failed to make the impact they deserved. Then again, there will also always be those C-level acts who feel the desperate need to reform and attempt to make good on the promise they never had in the first place. You could count the Bay Area's Defiance—and their crippled 'comeback' The Prophecy—as one of the latter."
Themetalcrypt.com said, "Yet another 'Thrash Revival' album that contains a shitload of groove and yelling but very little actual Thrash."
The album also received favorable reviews for their efforts on what would ultimately be their last. A perfect example of this warmer reception by critics could be read in the LordsofMetal.com review from late 2009,
"The songs are all fine, from the fast opener 'Prion' to a more sophisticated approach in 'The War Inside' to the typical Bay Area metal-like 'Fuel The Fire' and the instrumental 'Eschaton'. ...Along with the excellent sound this results in yet another world class record." [1]
A similar exert taken from the review by AllMusic shows another positive option on the music,
"Guitarist Adams is particularly impressive here, spinning out ferocious solos loaded with dive-bombs and distorted fretboard pyrotechnics, as Kaufmann and Hernandez ...crunch and rumble through the twists and turns of these riff-heavy compositions. The Prophecy doesn't take Defiance beyond the bounds of what they'd already accomplished on their unjustly forgotten earlier albums, but it doesn't tarnish their artistic legacy, either. Thrash veterans/diehards will love hearing these guys again, and retro-thrash youngsters should pay attention to how the older generation does it." [2]

Progressive metal is a broad fusion music genre melding heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter.
Thrash metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo. The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead guitar work. The lyrical subject matter often includes criticism of The Establishment, opposition to armed conflicts, and at times shares a disdain for the Christian religion with that of black metal. The language is typically direct and denunciatory, an approach borrowed from hardcore punk.
Kreator is a German thrash metal band from Essen, formed in 1982. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Miland "Mille" Petrozza, drummer Jürgen "Ventor" Reil, lead guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö, and bassist Frédéric Leclercq. The band's lineup has changed multiple times over its 41-year career, most noticeably with their bassists and lead guitarists. Petrozza and Reil are the only two original members left in Kreator, although the latter took a break from the band from 1994 to 1996. Yli-Sirniö has been the lead guitarist of Kreator since 2001, while Leclercq joined in 2019 as the replacement of Christian "Speesy" Giesler, who had been a member of the band since 1994.

We've Come for You All is the ninth studio album by American heavy metal band Anthrax. It was released on May 6, 2003 through Nuclear Blast in Europe and Sanctuary Records in North America. The album was recorded over a one-year span at the BearTracks Recording Studio in Suffern, New York. The Who vocalist Roger Daltrey and Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell made guest appearances on the album.
Mortification is an Australian Christian death metal band which was formed in 1987 as a heavy metal group, Lightforce, by mainstay Steve Rowe on bass guitar and vocals. By 1990, in the Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin, they were renamed as Mortification with the line-up of Rowe, Michael Carlisle on guitar and Jayson Sherlock on drums. Mortification has released fourteen studio albums, three compilation albums, three extended plays, six live discs, one demo album, one box set, and several videos on major record labels such as Nuclear Blast. As one of the earliest internationally successful Christian death metal bands from Australia, they served as an inspiration for later similar groups.
Forbidden is an American thrash metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Formed in 1985 as Forbidden Evil, but would change their name in 1987. Since their formation, Forbidden have broken up and reformed twice with numerous line-up changes. After breaking up for the first time in 1997, Forbidden reunited once again in 2007, went into an indefinite hiatus in 2012, but reformed in 2023. The current line-up of the band is Norman Skinner (vocals), Craig Locicero (guitar), Matt Camacho (bass), Steve Smyth (guitar) and Chris Kontos (drums).
Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Their current lineup consists of guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, bassist Jack Gibson, drummer Tom Hunting, and lead vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza. There are no original members left in Exodus other than Hunting, who has departed from the band twice, in 1989 and 2004, but rejoined in 2007. Exodus is also notable for including a then-unknown Kirk Hammett, who was the band's lead guitarist from its inception to his departure in 1983, when he left to join Metallica as Dave Mustaine's replacement. Holt has been most consistent member throughout various lineup changes and breakups, and is the only member to appear on all of Exodus' recordings. Much of the band's career has also been affected by feuds between both band members and record companies, two extended hiatuses, deaths of former band members and drug addictions.

The Somberlain is the debut album by Swedish black metal band Dissection, released on 3 December 1993. It proved to be a highly influential release for both black metal and melodic death metal. The first album is much more straightforward tech thrash metal style comparing to their other albums, which would have a more progressive/complex sound until The Prophecy.
Beyond Recognition is the third full-length album by American thrash metal band Defiance, released in 1992 on Roadrunner Records. It was a bit of a departure from the band's previous work. It can be best described as "progressive thrash metal", featuring more complex song structures, odd time signatures, numerous key and tempo changes, technical riffs and drumming, and even clean sections that often evoked jazz fusion. This newer, more distinctive style earned the band their biggest critical success to date, and many fans hail it as their finest work.
