The Salads are a punk rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, with strong reggae tendencies. [1] They are currently signed to their own label, Maui Wowie Records, after having been signed to Kindling Music, a sub-division of Warner Music Canada.
The band started under the name Lynx when its members were elementary school students at Kettleby Public School in King Township, Ontario. [2]
School friends, drummer Grant Taylor and guitarist Dave Ziemba, started the group and soon added bassist Chuck Dailey to become a trio. Their early shows included local fairs and their elementary school graduation. [2]
After high school, the band moved to Toronto with Darren Dumas joining as lead singer in 1997 as his original band was teetering on a breakup. [2]
Libydo, a breakdancer who originally performed as part of dance group Back to Basics, was added later through connections with Dumas. [2] His role was effectively a hypeman at concerts, though he described his role as "an instrument" through which a "physical representation of the high energy" would be represented. [2]
In 2003, The Salads released their first album Fold A to B. It won several awards: a 2003 CASBY, a Canadian Radio Music Award, [3] and Favourite Band at the Canadian Indie Awards.[ citation needed ]
The band began writing more songs and performing them, getting ready for the next round of recording. They played at EdgeFest in 2004,(including EdgeFest), [4] and they spent two weeks playing Australia in late 2005 with The Presidents of the United States of America.
On their return, they began pre-production with Dan Brodbeck, and in January, a new record of 10 songs, The Big Picture, was completed. It included "Growing Up" (about life’s changes as you get older), “Individual” (memories of 80’s thrash metal), “Circles” (watching the most intelligent person you know battle Alzheimer’s), “A Better Way”. (trying for positive social change)). [5] The title "The Big Picture" was a reference to the complications of the music industry.
After two years of touring The Big Picture on the Warped tour, [6] [7] campus shows, and festivals, the members of The Salads decided to sever ties from their label and management. In August 2012, The Salads released a self-produced album entitled "Music Every Day" which features guest appearances by Angelo Moore (from the legendary Fishbone), Canadian musicians David Wilcox, Brian Byrne (from I Mother Earth), and Ryan Long (from The Johnstones). In 2013 the band performed at the KOI Music Fest. [4]
Ben Folds Five was an American alternative rock trio formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The group comprises Ben Folds, Robert Sledge and Darren Jessee. The group achieved success in the alternative, indie and pop music scenes. Their single "Brick" from the second album, Whatever and Ever Amen (1997), gained airplay on many mainstream radio stations.
Simple Plan is a Canadian Pop-punk band from Montreal, Quebec. Formed in 1999, the band's current lineup consists of Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau (drums), Jeff Stinco, and Sébastien Lefebvre. David Desrosiers joined the band in early 2000 and left in July 2020 due to sexual misconduct accusations.
The Suicide Machines are an American punk rock band formed in March 1991 in Detroit, Michigan. During the course of their career, the band has released seven full-length albums on the labels Hollywood Records, Side One Dummy Records and Fat Wreck Chords, as well as several EPs and singles. They have experienced lineup changes over the years, all with founding member Jason Navarro as lead singer and front man. The contemporary lineup includes Ryan Vandeberghe on drums, Rich Tschirhart on bass and Justin Malek on guitar.
Save Ferris is an American ska punk band formed circa 1995 in Orange County, California, United States. Their name is a reference to the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In 1995, the band began to perform underground venues in Southern California. In 1996, the band won a Grammy showcase award for best unsigned band and a contract with Epic Records. Their album It Means Everything from 1997 was their first full-length album. By 1999, the band moved from ska-pop into pop-punk. After a hiatus, in 2017, Save Ferris released the Checkered Past EP.
Gogol Bordello is an American punk rock band from the Lower East Side of Manhattan, formed in 1999 by musicians from all over the world and known for theatrical stage shows and persistent touring. Much of the band's sound is inspired by Romani and Ukrainian music mixed with punk and dub, incorporating accordion and violin.

Tsunami Bomb is an American punk rock band from Petaluma, California. They were formed in 1998 by bassist Dominic Davi, with keyboardist/vocalist Oobliette Sparks and later joined by drummer Gabe Lindeman. With vocalist Emily Whitehurst aka "Agent M" they would become a staple of Warped Tour and toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan, going through a number of lineup changes until they disbanded in 2005 after releasing two full length albums and a number of EP's. In 2015 the band reformed with new vocalist Kate Jacobi and later guitarist Andy Pohl and has remained active since, touring and appearing on a variety of festivals.
Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.
The Fold is an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois, United States. The Fold formed in 2005, and promptly began work on their album This Too Shall Pass for Tooth & Nail Records. They have released four full-length studio albums and three EP's over their career, with a fifth full-length slated for release on September 9, 2022, titled Stereo Fire. Career highlights include surpassing 130 million views on their YouTube channel and the nomination of Secrets Keep You Sick for a Grammy in the category of "Best Recording Package". Their single "Gravity" from the album This Too Shall Pass reached No. 1 on the CHR Rock charts. Fold A to B is the second full-length album by Canadian punk rock band The Salads. It was released in 2003, on Maui Wowie Records, and distributed by EMI Music Canada. It is an enhanced CD, and features the videos for both "Get Loose", and "Who's that Kat?". The title of the album is a reference to the Mad Fold-in by Mad magazine and the font of the album cover title is a reference to the magazine as well.

"Hundred Million" is a song by Canadian rock band Treble Charger. It was released as the lead single from the band's fourth album, Detox. The song features backing vocals by Deryck Whibley and percussion by Steve Jocz, both from Sum 41. The song received a CASBY Award for "Favourite New Single" in 2002. The song peaked at No. 49 on the Radio & Records Alternative chart in 2003.
