The Scars Between Us is the fourth full-length album by American groove metal band Skinlab. It was released September 15, 2009, seven years after the band's previous studio album. [1]
Reviews of the album ranged from negative to mixed.
AllMusic gave a mixed review, classifying the songs as technically competent but unoriginal nu metal tracks with far too long a run-time. There were also accusations that riffs had gone far past being influenced and outright impersonated various major bands such as Metallica and Machine Head. [1]
MetalSucks gave a negative review, again criticising the lack of originality and flagrant impersonations. The review also criticised the loss of groove seen in the band's early work, leading to a general dullness in a number of songs. [2]
Exclaim! also gave a mixed reception of the review, judging it "moderately interesting" but once again criticised the lack of originality. [3]

Silenius commented on the album's title: "Old Mornings Dawn is no concept album, but this time we mostly experienced the stories and legends of Eärendil the mariner: half man half eldar, ancestor of the kings of Númenor, with the Silmaril of his forehead he became an immortal star. 4 songs are dealing with this topic. The lyrics of another two songs come from the poems "City of Present Sorrow" and "Town of Dreams", two very old poems by J. R. R. Tolkien written at a time when the first world war was raging. The rest of the lyrics came from unknown writers or are written by myself and as ever are closely woven to the Tolkien universe".
The Ape of God is the name of three different studio albums released by the American rock band Old Man Gloom—one of which was a "fake" album released promotionally to music critics and subsequently leaked online, and two of which were officially released to the public making up the band's sixth and seventh studio albums. The two publicly released albums were released on November 11, 2014, through Profound Lore Records (digital/CD) and SIGE Records (vinyl)—marking the first time since the band's inception that an album was not released through Tortuga Records and Hydra Head Records. The Ape of God albums were marketed and promoted as a single album for several months, but the weekend before its official release, it was revealed to actually be the name of two separate but identically titled studio albums and was also revealed that the version that some music critics had reviewed and leaked only featured edited-down versions of songs from both albums.

Suicide Silence is the fifth studio album by metal band Suicide Silence, released on February 24, 2017 by Nuclear Blast. The album is a notable departure from their deathcore signature musical style, pursuing a more 1990s influenced nu metal sound. Critical reviews were mixed, while fan response was generally negative. It was also the last to feature Alex Lopez on drums before his departure from the band in April 2022, as he was only credited on the band's following album, Become the Hunter, but did not perform on it.
