The Secret Sessions is a tribute album to Canadian indie rock band Rheostatics, released March 16, 2007 through the web label Zunior. [1] The album was released to coincide with the band's farewell show scheduled for March 30, and features Canadian indie rock artists performing Rheostatics songs. [2]

The album was not publicized in advance, so that its release would be a surprise for the band — the album was presented to the band live on Dave Bookman's show on CFNY-FM on March 15. [3]

Notably, the album includes reunion performances by three bands, Weeping Tile, Local Rabbits and The Inbreds, who were contemporaries of the Rheostatics in the 1990s Canadian indie rock scene, but had broken up prior to the album's release. [4]

The album was made available as a limited edition CD release through Zunior, but was primarily distributed as a download from the label's website. Profits generated by the album were donated to charity.

Starting around 1982, he was associated with Ottawa punk rock bands such as Civil Terror, Snuff Maximus and Deep Six. Mech later moved back to Toronto, his home town, forming The Bookmen with Dave Bookman, and working with Rheostatics. Mech is credited on Rheostatics' record Whale Music and was featured in their video for "Stolen Car".

The Golden Seals are a Canadian indie rock band formed in 1999 in London, Ontario and now based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The band is led by singer and songwriter Dave Merritt and his long-time collaborator Philip Shaw Bova. Past members and contributors have included Matt Ouimet, Steve Boudreau, Michael Bonnell, Jeremy Gara, Jordon Zadorozny, Andy Magoffin and John Higney.

Jack, and Jason Schneider, which chronicles the development of alternative rock in Canada between 1985 and 1995. Published by ECW Press, the book has appeared in two editions, an original in 2001 (ISBN 1-55022-475-1) and an updated tenth anniversary edition in 2011 (ISBN 978-1-55022-992-9). In conjunction with the 2011 edition of the book, two compilation albums of music from the era chronicled by the book were also released as fundraisers for charitable organizations.
