The Van Jets was a rock band based in Ostend, Belgium. [1]

Contents

Their style was a mixture of glam rock, rock 'n' roll, garage rock and pop. The band won Humo's Rock Rally in 2004, after they recorded their first EP, Belvedere Records Presents the Van Jets.

Their full-length debut, Electric Soldiers, was released in 2007. The Van Jets gained a reputation as a thrilling live act following performances at Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop. [2]

After the release of the albums Cat Fit Fury! and Halo, they switched to a more synth pop style. The album Welcome to Strange Paradise was realized with the cooperation of producer Leo Abrahams and acclaimed mixing engineer Tchad Blake. Blake also mixed Future Primitives, released in 2017. [3]

The band broke up in 2019. [4] Johannes Verschaeve continued as a solo-artist called Johannes Is Zijn Naam (Johannes Is His Name). His first album released in 2023 consisted of Flemish-language songs. [5]

De Kreuners are a Flemish rock band established in 1978. They first received interest when they won the first Humo's Rock Rally in 1978, but didn't get a record contract. They self released their first three singles. They recorded their first single Nummer een in London. It became their first success. After these three singles, they signed with Warner Bros. and released in 1981 's Nachts kouder dan buiten. It sold 30,000 copies. By the time of their second album, 1982's Er sterft een beer in de taiga, they were one of Flanders' most successful bands, and the record became gold in two days time. In 1990 they switched to EMI and released their biggest success, the 1990 album Hier en nu, which sold 100,000 copies. The single Ik Wil Je has sold over 1 million copies. Their best of Het beste van de Kreuners is already certified platina before its release date.

Ultra is a Dutch post-punk movement that originated in Amsterdam in the early 1980s. The name "ultra" is a shortening of "ultramodernen". The movement had an avantgarde, experimental, and artistic aesthetic. Many of its participants were students in art schools. In contrast to other countries' post-punk movements, the Dutch experimented with, among other things, toy instruments, chainsaws and de-tuned guitars.

Songs of Innocence is the debut English-language solo album by the Belgian Flemish singer Jasper Steverlinck, frontman of Arid. It was released in 2004 by PIAS Recordings, and it topped for five weeks the Belgian Album Chart, and reached No. 48 in the Wallonia Region. The album include the previous year's single "Life On Mars?", an acoustic cover of the Davie Bowie song with the Kolacny brothers pianists, which had spent seven weeks at No.1 in Belgium in 2003.

Joost Klein, known mononymously as Joost, is a Dutch musician, writer and former YouTuber. Robin Kester is a Dutch musician and songwriter from Rotterdam. Her band consists of Sam van Hoogstraten (guitar), Thijs Visscher (bass), Joep van Osch (drums) and Stef Koenis (keyboards). Her music style is often compared with that of Beth Gibbons and Weyes Blood.
