The Woolpackers were an English country rock trio of the 1990s, consisting of Steve Halliwell, Billy Hartman and Alun Lewis, all three of whom were stars of the ITV-produced soap opera Emmerdale , in an attempt to cash in on the popularity of line dancing at the time.

Despite numerous criticisms of their style, the group achieved a hit single with "Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Roll" in November 1996, reaching number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. The parent album Emmer Dance reached number 26 on the UK Albums Chart a few weeks later. A year later, the single "Line Dance Party" hit number 25 and their second album The Greatest Line Dancing Party reached number 48 in the UK.

Bucks Fizz were an English pop group that achieved success in the 1980s, most notably for winning the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Making Your Mind Up". The group was formed in January 1981 specifically for the contest and comprised four vocalists: Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston. They received attention for the dance routine which accompanied the song, in which the male members of the group ripped the female members' outer skirts off to reveal much shorter mini-skirts beneath. Toploader are an English rock band from Eastbourne, East Sussex, formed in 1997, with over two million album sales and several top 20 hits both home and abroad. It earned them four nominations at the 2001 Brit Awards. The first single from the album, "Slam Dunk ", peaked at number ten on the UK Singles Chart and within the top thirty across most of Europe. Follow-up single, "When the Lights Go Out", was more successful, peaking at number four in the UK, number two in Australia and number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. Other singles released from the album, "Got the Feelin'", "Everybody Get Up", and "Until the Time Is Through" all peaked within the top three in the UK and Ireland, and all three have been certified silver by the BPI.

"Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Roll" is a song by English country rock trio the Woolpackers, written by Eddie Phillips and Bob Garner of the Creation and produced by Nigel Wright. The song was created as an attempt to cash in on the line dancing trend that was prominent in the United Kingdom at the time using three actors from the ITV soap opera Emmerdale: Steve Halliwell, Billy Hartman, and Alun Lewis, who performed the song on an episode of the programme.
