Theater Kiel is a theatre company in Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is jointly funded by the city and the state. The company produces opera, musical, ballet, plays, and theatre for youth and children, in three different buildings: the Opernhaus (completed in 1907), the Schauspielhaus, and the Theater im Werftpark.
The theatre dates its history to 1907, when the opera house was completed. Former names include Bühnen der Landeshauptstadt Kiel (Stages of the state capital Kiel) and Landestheater Kiel (State Theatre Kiel).
Associated people as of 2014 are general director Daniel Karasek , director of music Georg Fritzsch, commercial director Jörn Sturm, director of opera Reinhard Linden, director of children's and youth theater Norbert Aust, directors of ballet Yaroslav Ivanenko and Heather Jurgensen.
The theatre is supported by the Gesellschaft der Freunde des Theaters in Kiel (Association of the friends of the theatre in Kiel), [1] the Musikfreunde Kiel (Friends of Music Kiel), [2] and the Volksbühne Kiel (Stage of the people Kiel), [3] who all organize numerous events.

The Kiel Opera House ( Opernhaus Kiel ) is the city's major venue for opera, ballet, and orchestral performances. It was designed by architect Heinrich Seeling and built from 1905 to 1907. Aerial bombings destroyed much of the original structure in 1942 and 1943, and architects Henry Hansen and Guido Widmann were later brought in to restore the theatre from 1952 to 1953.

The first performance of Theater Kiel was Beethoven's Fidelio on 1 October 1907.
In 1988, the theatre was part of the co-commission of the opera The Making of the Representative for Planet 8 by Philip Glass, together with the English National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and Het Muziektheater, Amsterdam.
In the season 2007/2008, Theater Kiel celebrated its 100th anniversary. In addition to the program during the season, a summer event was held. The second opera by Cristóbal Halffter, Lázaro, was premiered on 4 May 2008 at the Kiel Opera House as part of the celebration. [4]
In 2010, the first large scale stage work Márton Illés, Die weiße Fürstin, was co-produced with the Munich Biennale. It premiered at the Gasteig, [5] and was repeated in Kiel in May and June. [6]
An open-air performance of Puccini's Tosca was presented at the Kiel Town Hall Square in 2012. [7]
Cristóbal Halffter Jiménez-Encina is a Spanish classical composer. He is the nephew of two other composers, Rodolfo and Ernesto Halffter.

Leo Blech was a German opera composer and conductor who is perhaps most famous for his work at the Königliches Opernhaus from 1906 to 1937, and later as the conductor of Berlin's Städtische Oper from 1949 to 1953. Blech was known for his reliable, clear, and elegant performances, especially of works by Wagner, Verdi, and Bizet's Carmen, and for his sensitivity as an accompanist.

Opernhaus Wuppertal is a German theatre in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia. It houses mostly performances of operas, but also plays, run by the municipal Wuppertaler Bühnen. The house is also the venue for dance performances by the Tanztheater Wuppertal company created by Pina Bausch.

He studied classical ballet for several years before becoming a choreographer for various professional companies. Due to his success, he has won many awards and honorary titles within the ballet community.
The Theater des Westens is one of the most famous theatres for musicals and operettas in Berlin, Germany, located at Kantstraße 10–12 in Charlottenburg. It was founded in 1895 for plays. The present house was opened in 1896 and dedicated to opera and operetta. Enrico Caruso made his debut in Berlin here, and the Ballets Russes appeared with Anna Pavlova. In the 1930s it was run as the Volkstheater Berlin. After World War II it served as the temporary opera house of Berlin, the Städtische Oper. In 1961 it became the first theatre in Germany to show musicals. Since then it has become the "German equivalent of Broadway extravaganzas", putting on plays and musical comedies.

Matthias von Stegmann is a German actor, voice-over speaker and writer, author and stage director for theatre and especially opera who works internationally. He wrote dialogue and directed it for German versions of American series such The Simpsons. In opera, he has focused on the work of Richard Wagner. He staged a version of his Der Ring des Nibelungen for children, first in Tokyo, then in German at the Vienna State Opera and in Zurich. He staged in 2012 Tristan und Isolde in Minden, and in 2013 the first performance of Rienzi at the Bayreuth Festival.
Theater Magdeburg is the principal theatre organization in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of the state Saxony-Anhalt. It was formed in 2004 with the merger of two theatres, the Theater der Landeshauptstadt and the Freie Kammerspiele. It presents performances of opera, ballet, musical theatre, concerts, and plays, listed in detail from 2011. Theater Magdeburg has its own opera, ballet, and theatre companies and is the home of the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra. It has three main performing venues. the Opernhaus, the Schauspielhaus (Playhouse), and the DomplatzOpenAir, which is set up each summer near Magdeburg Cathedral.
