Themselves, previously known as Them, is an American hip hop duo based in Oakland, California. [1] It consists of Doseone and Jel. [2] They are also part of Subtle and 13 & God. [3] The duo's first studio album, Them , was included on Fact 's "100 Best Indie Hip-Hop Records of All Time" list. [4]

Doseone and Jel met through Mr. Dibbs and formed Themselves. [5] Then known as Them, the duo's first studio album, Them , was released in 2000. [4] In 2002, Themselves released the second studio album, The No Music . [6] A remix album, The No Music of AIFFs , was released in 2003. [7] In 2009, Themselves released a mixtape, The Free Houdini , as well as the third studio album, Crowns Down . [8] Another remix album, Crowns Down & Company , was released in 2010. [9]

Brendon Patrick Whitney, better known by his stage name Alias, was a producer and rapper from Hollis, Maine. He was a co-founder of the indie hip hop record label Anticon.

Jeffrey James Logan, better known by his stage name Jel, is an American hip hop producer and rapper. He is co-founder of the record label Anticon. He has been a member of Presage, Themselves, Subtle, and 13 & God.

Subtle was an alternative hip hop sextet from Oakland, California. It consisted of Adam Drucker (Doseone), Jeffrey Logan (Jel), Dax Pierson, Jordan Dalrymple, Alexander Kort, and Marty Dowers. The band was formed in 2001. While considered by the artists to be "genreless", Subtle had close ties to the hip hop and indie music scene. Although both Doseone and Jel are members of Anticon collective, Subtle was not on the Anticon label roster. Subtle was signed to Lex Records.
