Usilampatti taluk is a taluk of Madurai district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The headquarters of the taluk is the town of Thirumangalam.

The Madurai district is the ninth largest in population of the 37 districts of the state of Tamil Nadu in southeastern India. The city of Madurai serves as the district headquarters. It houses the world-famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwarar temple and is situated on the banks of the river Vaigai and the oldest Islamic mosque in Madurai The Kazimar Big Mosque situated in the banks of Kiruthumal river. Aside from the city of Madurai, the larger towns are Melur, vadipatti, Peraiyur, Thirumangalam and Usilampatti. It is an important hub for various film shootings.Alanganallur is an important town in Madurai.

According to the 2011 census, the taluk of Thirumangalam had a population of 232,548 with 116,664 males and 115,884 females. There were 993 women for every 1000 men. The taluk had a literacy rate of 70.92. Child population in the age group below 6 was 11,777 Males and 10,862 Females. [1]
