This That and The Other is the first compilation album by the actor Viggo Mortensen, released in 2004. The album compiles songs from five of his albums: One Less Thing to Worry About from 1997, One Man's Meat from 1999, The Other Parade from 1999, Pandemoniumfromamerica of 2003, and Please Tomorrow of 2004. Most of those albums are out of print.

Viggo Mortensen American actor

Viggo Peter Mortensen Jr. is a Danish-American actor, author, photographer, poet, and painter. He has Danish ancestry and was a resident of Venezuela and Argentina during his childhood. He is the recipient of various accolades including a Screen Actors Guild Award and has been nominated for three Academy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards.

The album includes three new songs, named "This", which opens the album, "That", and "The Other", which finishes the album - all of them building the album's title. The compilation features long-time collaborateur Buckethead for the sixth time, plus Viggo's son Henry Mortensen and the owner, producer and keyboardist of TDRS Music, Travis Dickerson. The album is dedicated to all trees, living or dead, inhabited or not.

Buckethead American musician and songwriter

Brian Patrick Carroll, known professionally as Buckethead, is an American multi-instrumentalist musician who has received critical acclaim for his innovative electric guitar playing. His music spans many genres, including progressive metal, funk, blues, bluegrass, ambient, and avant-garde music. He performs primarily as a solo artist, though he has collaborated extensively with a wide variety of high-profile artists such as Bill Laswell, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Les Claypool, Serj Tankian, Bill Moseley, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen, That 1 Guy, Bassnectar, and was a member of Guns N' Roses from 2000 to 2004. He has released 306 studio albums, four special releases, and one EP. He has also performed on more than 50 other albums by other artists.

Travis Dickerson is an American musician and producer, best known for his work with Buckethead and Viggo Mortensen. He also runs TDRSmusic, a recording studio with its own record label that has recorded and released albums by Bill Laswell, Jethro Tull, Linda Ronstadt, and Vince DiCola. Dickerson can be heard playing keyboards on many albums he recorded and produced.

Principal photography for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy was conducted concurrently in New Zealand for 438 days from October 11, 1999 through to December 22, 2000. Pick-up shoots were conducted annually from 2001 to 2003. The trilogy was shot at over 150 different locations, with seven different units shooting, as well as soundstages around Wellington and Queenstown. Peter Jackson directed the whole production, while other unit directors included Alun Bollinger, John Mahaffie, Geoff Murphy, Fran Walsh, Barrie Osborne, and Rick Porras. Jackson monitored these units with live satellite feeds, and with the added pressure of constant script re-writes and the multiple units handling his vision, he only got around 4 hours of sleep a night.
