Tijion Esho is a British doctor [2] known for aesthetic medicine and non-surgical procedures. He is the founder of the ESHO Clinic. [3] He is the resident cosmetic doctor on the E4 reality show Body Fixers. [4]
Esho was born and grew up in North London [5] and is of Nigerian descent. During his youth he attended Edmonton County Secondary School, and initially wanted to become an artist, but due to his conservative African up-bringing he was encouraged not to follow this career option. In 2000, Esho started his education at Leicester Medical School, [6] and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Medicine (MBCHB). In 2007, he completed his foundation year and the following year Esho completed his MRCS, then after completing junior (core training) surgical rotation training, Esho moved to the vocational training scheme (General Practice training scheme). [7]
Esho started his career at the NHS as a surgical trainee, completing his junior training before training as a GP, shortly after that he founded the Le Beau Ideal Lifestyle Clinic and then in 2013 "rebranded" to The ESHO clinic with locations in London and Newcastle upon Tyne. [8] In early 2016, Esho launched Midas By Esho, [9] a lip augmentation tool to help practitioners sculpt and position lips whilst making augmentations. Apart from the development of Midas, Esho has been involved in pioneering newly developed techniques and methods in laser skin rejuvenation, lip augmentation with the Nano Droplet technique, [10] Cupid’s Bow Lift and leading a Botox revolution with Robot Botox. [11] In autumn 2017, Esho launched the ESHO product range in collaboration with Brandon Truaxe's beauty company Deciem. [12] [13] [14] He has also advocated for stricter UK legislation when it comes to safety protocols for cosmetic surgery. [15]
In 2018 Esho coined the phrase "Snapchat dysmorphia" - the phenomenon of people requesting procedures to resemble their digital image. [16]
In 2016, Esho was cast as the resident cosmetic doctor on E4’s reality show Body Fixers (a spin off of E4's other show Tattoo Fixers). Body Fixers was produced by Studio Lambert [17] and first aired in September 2016; in February 2017, it was announced that the show would run for a second season. [18] Prior to Body Fixers, Esho had made guest appearances on Channel 4’s Bodyshockers . [19]
In October 2016, Esho, in collaboration with Church Pharmacy and Cosmetronic, launched the ESHO Initiative, [20] a charity clinic which provides corrective treatment to patients with botched cosmetic procedures, congenital deformities, or severe scarring or disfigurement. [21]
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories: reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns. While reconstructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its functioning, cosmetic surgery aims at improving the appearance of it.
Penis enlargement, or male enhancement, is any technique aimed to increase the size of a human penis. Some methods aim to increase total length, others the shaft's girth, and yet others the glans size. Techniques include surgery, supplements, ointments, patches, and physical methods like pumping, jelqing, and traction.
Breast augmentation and augmentation mammoplasty is a cosmetic surgery technique using breast-implants and fat-graft mammoplasty techniques to increase the size, change the shape, and alter the texture of the breasts. Augmentation mammoplasty is applied to correct congenital defects of the breasts and the chest wall. As an elective cosmetic surgery, primary augmentation changes the aesthetics – of size, shape, and texture – of healthy breasts.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a surgical specialty focusing on reconstructive surgery of the face, facial trauma surgery, the oral cavity, head and neck, mouth, and jaws, as well as facial cosmetic surgery/facial plastic surgery including cleft lip and cleft palate surgery.
Chin augmentation using surgical implants can alter the underlying structure of the face, providing better balance to the facial features. The specific medical terms mentoplasty and genioplasty are used to refer to the reduction and addition of material to a patient's chin. This can take the form of chin height reduction or chin rounding by osteotomy, or chin augmentation using implants. Improving the facial balance is commonly performed by enhancing the chin using an implant inserted through the mouth. The goal is to provide a suitable projection of the chin as well as the correct height of the chin which is in balance with the other facial features.
Reconstructive surgery is surgery performed to restore normal appearance and function to body parts malformed by a disease or medical condition.
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that modifies the shape of the lips using fillers, such as collagen or implants. The procedure may be performed to increase lip size, correct asymmetry, create protrusion, or adjust the ratio of the top and bottom lips. The procedure typically involves surgical injection, though temporary non-surgical alternatives exist.

Aesthetic medicine is a branch of modern medicine that focuses on altering cosmetic appearance through the treatment of conditions including scars, skin laxity, wrinkles, moles, liver spots, excess fat, cellulite, unwanted hair, skin discoloration, and spider veins. Traditionally, it includes dermatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, reconstructive surgery and plastic surgery, surgical procedures, non-surgical procedures, and a combination of both. Aesthetic medicine procedures are usually elective. There is a long history of aesthetic medicine procedures, dating back to many notable cases in the 19th century, though techniques have developed much since then.
A lip lift is a plastic surgery procedure that modifies the cosmetic appearance of the lips by reshaping them to increase the prominence of the vermilion border; and to enhance the facial area above the lips into a more aesthetically pleasing shape. In corrective praxis, a lip lift procedure is distinguished from lip enhancement, the augmentation of the lips, which can be effected with a non-surgical procedure.

Injectable filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin at different depths to help fill in facial wrinkles, provide facial volume, and augment facial features: restoring a smoother appearance. Most of these wrinkle fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body. Most dermal fillers today consist of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is present in skin and cartilage. Some people may need more than one injection to achieve the wrinkle-smoothing effect. The effect lasts for about six months or longer. Successful results depend on health of the skin, skill of the health care provider, and type of filler used. Regardless of material filler duration is highly dependent on amount of activity in the region where it is injected. Exercise and high intensity activities such as manual labor can stimulate blood flow and shorten the lifespan of fillers.

Culture of cosmetic surgery is the attitude towards cosmetic changes via surgery over time, though this attitude depends on the purpose. WWI left thousands of soldiers with unprecedented levels of facial damage, creating a massive need for reconstruction of facial features, as such Harold Gillies of New Zealand developed and tested methods to restore function and structure to the faces of soldiers and these processes rapidly gained popularity. Throughout the 1940s and 50s fashion and personal appearance was emphasized more strongly in the United States. As ideas about what was considered beautiful changed, services, products, and techniques were developed to help consumers meet those standards if they so chose. People may undertake plastic surgery in the modern era due to their mental state and lack of confidence in their own bodies. Individuals may turn to getting something changed about themselves via surgery because it requires less mental/emotional work and reduces body dysmorphia.
