Studio Lambert is a British television production company based in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Los Angeles. It creates and produces scripted and unscripted programs for British and American broadcasters, cable networks and streaming platforms. It is part of All3Media, the global production group. [1]

Stephen Lambert, creator of many well-known global formats, launched the company in 2008. Tim Harcourt joined in 2012, first as head of development then becoming creative director. [2] The company quickly grew a reputation on both sides of the Atlantic for making "innovative" and popular unscripted shows. [3] Studio Lambert is known for many productions including award-winning global hits Undercover Boss , Gogglebox , The Traitors UK and The Traitors US as well as Race Across the World , The Circle and Four in a Bed . In 2022, it was announced Netflix had given Studio Lambert a series order for the biggest reality competition ever, Squid Game: The Challenge – a co-production with The Garden, featuring 456 players and a prize of $4.56m. [4] In the 2024 Broadcast Magazine survey of independent UK production companies, Studio Lambert ranked #3 by size of turnover. [5] In 2019 and in 2024, the same survey ranked the company #1 in its peer poll. [6] [7] Studio Lambert won Best Independent Production Company at both the 2020 and 2024 Broadcast Awards. [8] [9]

A scripted division was established in 2015 to produce high quality drama series with British and American writers, directors and on-screen talent. [10] The company’s first scripted show, Three Girls , won five BAFTA awards in 2018. [11] [12] The Feed launched on Prime Video in 2019, [13] The Nest premiered on BBC One to high ratings and acclaim in 2020, [14] and Three Families launched in 2021. [15]

The original 'Studio Lambert' was a very successful television adverts production company in the 1960s, 70s and 80s run by Stephen Lambert's father, Roger Lambert, a director of many well-known television adverts.

Studio Lambert won Best Independent Production Company at the 2020 and 2024 Broadcast Awards . [16] [17]

In 2023, The Traitors UK won a BAFTA Television Award , [18] Edinburgh TV Award, [19] RTS Programme Award [20] and BPG Award. [21] The Traitors US earned an Emmy Awards nomination and won for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program. [22]

Gogglebox has won numerous awards. In 2014 and 2022, it won a BAFTA in the Reality & Constructed Factual category. [23] From 2015 to 2018, in 2021 and in 2022, it won a National Television Award . [24] The format won a Rose d’Or Award in 2014. [25]

Race Across the World won a BAFTA in 2020 for Best Reality & Constructed Factual. [26] It also won a Broadcast Award in 2021 for Best Popular Factual Programme [27] and has been nominated twice for the Grierson Awards . [28]

Undercover Boss is a two-time Emmy Awards -winning series, [29] which has been nominated multiple times for the Critics' Choice Television Awards . [30]

BBC One limited drama series Three Girls won five BAFTAs including the award for Best Mini-Series. [31] It won Best TV Drama at Prix Italia 2018, [32] alongside winning awards at the RTS Programme Awards , [33] BPG Awards, [34] Broadcast Awards [35] and Edinburgh TV Awards.

The Circle won the C21 International Format Award for Best Competition Reality Format in 2019. [36]

<i>Celebrity Juice</i> British television comedy panel game

Celebrity Juice is a British television comedy panel game broadcast on ITV2 between 24 September 2008 and 15 December 2022. The show was written and presented by Leigh Francis in the role of his alter ego Keith Lemon. The format for the series was first suggested in 2007, after the final series of Francis’s Channel 4 sketch show Bo' Selecta!. ITV approached him to create a show featuring Lemon, and after the success of the five-part series Keith Lemon's Very Brilliant World Tour, the channel commissioned Celebrity Juice. The original premise of the show was to see which team knows most about the week's tabloid news stories, although later series focus more on the comedy factor of the participating celebrity guests and games involving them, rather than discussing the week's news.

The 2009 British Academy Television Awards were held on 26 April at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The event was broadcast live on BBC One and was hosted by Graham Norton. The nominations were announced on 24 March. Winners in bold.

<i>Undercover Boss</i> Reality television series

Undercover Boss is a reality television series franchise created by Stephen Lambert and produced in many countries. It originated in 2009 on the British Channel 4. The show’s format features the experiences of senior executives working undercover in their own companies to investigate how their firms really work and to identify how they can be improved, as well as to reward hard-working employees.

Undercover Boss is a British reality television series. Each episode follows a person in a high management position at a major business who poses as an entry-level employee to find faults in the company. The first series, consisting of two episodes, aired in 2009; the second series, with six episodes, aired one year later. This original series sparked the Undercover Boss franchise. Localised versions have been produced in the United States, France, Australia, Germany, Canada and various other countries. In June 2021, it was announced that it would be revived on ITV after a seven-year absence. Retitled Undercover Big Boss, it premiered on 5 August 2021, with four episodes.

<i>Gogglebox</i> British reality television show

Gogglebox is a British reality television series created by Stephen Lambert, Tania Alexander and Tim Harcourt, and broadcast on Channel 4. The series documents families and groups of friends around the United Kingdom who are filmed for their observations and reactions to the previous week's television from their own homes. The first series launched on 7 March 2013, the current sixth celebrity series has been airing since 7 June 2024. The show was narrated by Caroline Aherne from its launch until her death in July 2016, after which Craig Cash took over.

<i>Stand Up to Cancer</i> (UK) British TV series or programme

Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) is the UK version of Stand Up to Cancer, a US charitable television telethon, broadcast between 2012 and 2018 on the Channel 4 network in the United Kingdom, and again from 2020. The most recent edition of the telethon was on 15 October 2021, a programme which was hosted by Davina McCall, Alan Carr, Maya Jama and Adam Hills. By February 2015, the 2014 broadcast had raised £15,585,444 in pledges, in aid of cancer research.
