The Great Interior Design Challenge is a British television interior design competition broadcast on BBC Two from 20 January 2014 to 19 January 2017. Each series aims to find "Britain's best amateur interior designers". All programmes in the first three series have been presented by Tom Dyckhoff with the design tasks judged by Daniel Hopwood and Sophie Robinson. Interior designer Kelly Hoppen replaced Robinson as lead judge in series four, with Robinson becoming a guest judge along with Michelle Ogundehin, Elle Magazine's Decoration UK editor-in-chief.^[1] Each episode introduces a new location with distinctive architecture and focuses on a few participants at a time. Contestants have a main challenge – usually to make-over a room in the home of their allocated client – and an additional small task – such as the upcycling of an old item.

Production

The commissioning of the series was announced by Tanya Shaw and Alison Kirkham ^[2] and the executive producers are Tanya Shaw for the BBC and Alannah Richardson for Studio Lambert.^[2]^[3]

The presenter Tom Dyckhoff is a design critic of The Times .^[2] In the first three series, experienced interior designers Daniel Hopwood and Sophie Robinson judge and give expert opinions.^[2]^[4] Interior designer Kelly Hoppen replaced Robinson as lead judge in series four.^[1]

Top Design is an American reality television series. Interior designers competed to win cash and receive a spot in New York's Designer showcases. The first season premiered on January 31, 2007, following the season finale of Top Chef. Todd Oldham was the host, while famed potter and interior designer Jonathan Adler was lead judge. Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell also served as judges. Matt Lorenz was declared the winner. Although the first season received poor ratings, Bravo decided to air a second season starting September 3, 2008, with India Hicks as host and Oldham serving in the role of mentor, similar to Tim Gunn on Project Runway. Adler, Wearstler, and Russell returned as judges.

Series 3 of Project Catwalk began 9 January 2008, and features 13 contestants vying for the prizes, which include £25,000, a clothing range courtesy of Oli, and a full feature fashion spread in Grazia magazine. Kelly Osbourne returns as the show's host.

Britain's Missing Top Model is a British Reality TV modelling show for disabled women, aired on BBC Three. The premiere episode aired on 1 July 2008. The show courted controversy, with many arguing that the show made disability a spectator event.

Kelly Elaine Hoppen is a South African-born British interior designer, author, and proprietor of Kelly Hoppen Interiors.

The first season of Project Runway Australia began production in May, and the season premiered on Arena 8.30pm (AEST) Monday 7 July 2008. The host was Australian model Kristy Hinze and the judges were Sarah Gale and Jayson Brunsdon. Henry Roth was the designer's mentor. The season concluded on 15 September 2008, with Juli Grbac being announced the winner.

Top Design Australia is a reality television series focusing on interior design and renovation, hosted by Jamie Durie. Durie also serves as main judge, along with design critic Amanda Talbot and architect Nick Tobias. The show is heavily based on the American series of the same name, with a similar format and elimination process. The winner of Top Design received $100,000 in prize money. The first episode premiered on 13 July 2011, on the Nine Network.

Project Runway All Stars is the third season of the Project Runway spin-off series Project Runway All Stars. It features 11 designers from previous seasons of the original series with Alyssa Milano acting as the new host, taking over Carolyn Murphy's role in season 2. Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi returned as judges for this season. Zanna Roberts Rassi replaced Joanna Coles, mentoring contestants. The season premiered on Lifetime on October 24, 2013.

<i>Tumble</i> (TV series) British celebrity gymnastics show (2014)

Tumble is a British television show, featuring celebrities taking part in gymnastics to win the votes of the public. Learning sessions were given on the basics of gymnastics to the celebrities taking part. The show was backed by British Gymnastics. The trainers were the same ones who trained Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle. The show was broadcast live over six episodes on BBC One, starting on 9 August 2014.

Hair is a British reality television series to find Britain's best amateur hair stylist that was first broadcast on BBC Three on 25 February 2014. The first series was presented by Steve Jones, whilst the second series is fronted by Katherine Ryan. The judges are Denise McAdam and Alain Pichon. On 30 October 2014, it was revealed that Hair had been renewed for a second series and promoted from BBC Three to BBC Two. The second and final series comprises eight half-hour episodes and began on 13 July 2015.

Tom Dyckhoff is a British writer, broadcaster and historian on architecture, design and cities. He has worked in television, radio, exhibitions, print and online media. He is best known for being a BBC TV presenter of The Great Interior Design Challenge, The Culture Show, I Love Carbuncles, The Secret Life of Buildings and Saving Britain's Past.

Handmade: Britain's Best Woodworker is a reality show that began airing on Channel 4 on 21 October 2021. In the show, woodworkers compete to be named "Britain's Best Woodworker". A spin-off of the format of The Great British Bake Off, the programme is presented by Mel Giedroyc, with judges Alex de Rijke and Helen Welch, and Tom Dyckhoff and Sophie Sellu. To date, three series have been produced and screened.
