Timothy Andrew Hammer is an Australian botanist and plant taxonomist at the University of Adelaide and State Herbarium of South Australia. [1] He was awarded a PhD from the University of Western Australia in 2019, completing a thesis on the taxonomy and systematics of Ptilotus and related genera in Amaranthaceae. [2] [3] [4] [5] In addition to Ptilotus, he has published taxonomic revisions and new species for the genus Hibbertia in the family Dilleniaceae. [6] In 2021, Tim Hammer and Kevin Thiele submitted proposals to amend the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants to allow the rejection of offensive scientific names.
