Timothy P. Murphy is an American law enforcement officer and a former Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Murphy joined the FBI in September 1988. He has formerly served in FBI field posts in cities such as Newark,Tampa,Washington,DC,and Cincinnati along with several post at FBI Headquarters. Murphy has investigative experience in a number of matters including counterterrorism,organized crime and drug trafficking. His experience also expands into undercover and surveillance work. Murphy's executive experience includes being the special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office,special agent in charge of the Cincinnati Division,and a member of the Director's Special Agent in Charge Advisory Committee. Murphy graduated from Ferris State University. [2] He retired as Deputy Director of the FBI on August 31,2011. [3]

The Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) is the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) elite tactical unit. The HRT was formed to provide a full-time federal law enforcement tactical capability to respond to major terrorist incidents throughout the United States. Today,the HRT performs a number of tactical law enforcement and national security functions in high-risk environments and conditions and has deployed overseas,including with military Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) units. In an article to mark its 40th anniversary,it was reported that since its formation in 1983 the HRT had deployed more than 900 times.
Abscam,sometimes written ABSCAM,was a Federal Bureau of Investigation sting operation in the late 1970s and early 1980s that led to the convictions of seven members from both chambers of the United States Congress and others for bribery and corruption. The two-year investigation initially targeted trafficking in stolen property and corruption of prominent business people,but later evolved into a corruption investigation. The FBI was aided by the United States Department of Justice and convict Mel Weinberg in videotaping politicians accepting bribes from a fictitious Arabian company in return for various political favors.
The Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco,Firearms and Explosives (BATFE),commonly referred to as the ATF,is a domestic law enforcement agency within the United States Department of Justice. Its responsibilities include the investigation and prevention of federal offenses involving the unlawful use,manufacture,and possession of firearms and explosives;acts of arson and bombings;and illegal trafficking and tax evasion of alcohol and tobacco products. The ATF also regulates via licensing the sale,possession,and transportation of firearms,ammunition,and explosives in interstate commerce. Many of the ATF's activities are carried out in conjunction with task forces made up of state and local law enforcement officers,such as Project Safe Neighborhoods. The ATF operates a unique fire research laboratory in Beltsville,Maryland,where full-scale mock-ups of criminal arson can be reconstructed. The ATF had 5,285 employees and an annual budget of almost $1.5 billion in 2021. The ATF has received criticism over its handling of the Ruby Ridge siege,the Waco siege and other incidents.

Robert A. Ricks —known as Bob Ricks and "Backdraft Bob" —is an American law enforcement agent and politician from Texas and Oklahoma. He has worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation,the Governor of Oklahoma and in local law enforcement. He is best known as the FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge during the 1993 Waco Siege or as FBI Special Agent in Charge during the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing investigation.
Andrew George McCabe is an American attorney who served as the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from February 2016 to March 2018 and as the acting Director of the FBI from May 9,2017,to August 2,2017. He also serves as a professor at George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government. McCabe joined the FBI as a special agent in 1996 and served with the bureau's SWAT team. He became a supervisory special agent in 2003 and held management positions of increasing responsibility until he was appointed deputy director of the FBI in February 2016. McCabe became the acting Director of the FBI following James Comey's dismissal by then President Donald Trump,and served in that position until Trump's appointment of Christopher A. Wray. McCabe later departed from the FBI on poor terms with Trump. After leaving the Trump administration,McCabe has been a contributor at CNN since 2019.
