Timothy Edgar Trainor [1] (born January 25,1961) [2] [3] was the President of Mount St. Mary's University from 2016 to 2024. [4] Previously,Trainor was a United States Army brigadier general where he served as the 13th Dean of the United States Military Academy.
Born in the state of New York, [2] [3] Trainor graduated from West Point with a B.S. degree in 1983. He later earned an M.B.A. degree from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Trainor completed a Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering at North Carolina State University in 2001. His doctoral thesis was entitled Scheduling military deployments and his advisors were Thom J. Hodgson and Russell E. King. [5] [6] [7] [8]
Upon graduation from West Point,Trainor was commissioned as an engineering officer. While on active duty Trainor served in a variety positions including in Germany,Honduras,Fort Bragg,North Carolina,Fort Riley,Kansas and Sarajevo,Bosnia. [5]
Trainor's prior duties at the U.S. Military Academy included the director of the Engineering Management program and head of the Department of Systems Engineering. In the summer of 2010,Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced that President Barack Obama had nominated Trainor to become the next Dean. [9] As Dean,Trainor oversaw over 800 faculty and staff across 13 departments and 23 research centers. [10]
In the summer of 2016 Trainor was selected as Mount St. Mary's University's 26th interim president for a year and then permanently retained the position. [6] [11] During Trainor's leadership thus far,he has increased enrollment,championed three new academic programs,a variety of new academic leadership moves,an agreement with the local Frederick Community College,and secured a $1 million donation to create the Palmieri Center for Entrepreneurship. Trainor is married to his West Point classmate,Colonel (retired) Donna Marie Brazil and they have three children. [14] [15]
The United States Military Academy is a United States service academy in West Point,New York. It was originally established as a fort during the American Revolutionary War,as it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City. George Washington Cullum was an American soldier,engineer and writer. He worked as the supervising engineer on the building and repair of many fortifications across the country. Cullum served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War,primarily in the Western Theater and served as the 16th Superintendent of the United States Military Academy. Following his retirement from the Army,he became a prominent figure in New York society,serving in many societies,and as vice president of the American Geographical Society. The society named the Cullum Geographical Medal after him.

Henry Brewerton was a career engineering officer in the United States Army,serving as the superintendent of the United States Military Academy and then as a colonel in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was nominated for appointment to the grade of brevet brigadier general in the Regular Army by President Andrew Johnson on December 11,1866,to rank from March 13,1865,and the United States Senate confirmed the appointment on February 23,1867.

The Indoor Obstacle Course Test (IOCT) is a test of full-body functional physical fitness administered by the Department of Physical Education (DPE) at the United States Military Academy at West Point,New York. DPE considers the IOCT to be one of the best evaluations of total body fitness given in the Army. Cadets who earn an A−are authorized to wear the IOCT Badge on their athletic shorts.

The Knox Trophy is the oldest military award of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The award was established on October 8,1910,and is given annually by the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York to the United States Military Academy cadet with the highest rating for military efficiency. Named in honor of General Henry Knox,the first Secretary of War,the original trophy,made by Tiffany &Company was originally kept on display in the office of the West Point Commandant.
Robert Kennedy "Bob" Knight began serving as the president of Clark College in Vancouver,Washington,in August 2007. Knight previously served as interim president from September 2006 after serving as acting president of the college from July to September 2006. Knight,who joined Clark College in 2004 as vice president of Administrative Services,received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980 and earned an executive MBA at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He has done postgraduate work in organizational effectiveness at Chapman University in Fort Lewis,Washington. Born in England,Knight served more than 21 years in the United States Army as an infantry officer and airborne Army Ranger before retiring as a lieutenant colonel. His last duty in the army was as commander of Vancouver Barracks in Vancouver,Washington. Knight retired from Clark College in 2019.

Dr. James Andrew Helis is a retired United States Army colonel,a rear admiral in the United States Maritime Service and was the twelfth Superintendent of the United States Merchant Marine Academy,being replaced by Rear Admiral Buono in 2018.
Timothy James Edens is a retired United States Army Brigadier General and US Army combat Master Aviator,who commanded the 4th Brigade Avn,1st Infantry Division and 12th Combat Aviation Brigade,both while deployed to Iraq. He later served as director of Army Safety and commanding general,USACR/Safety Center.
John Henry Moellering Sr. is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Army. He is a 1959 graduate of the United States Military Academy with a B.S. degree in engineering. Moellering also earned an M.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of California,Berkeley in 1962. As a brigadier general,he served as the 59th commandant of the Corps of Cadets at the Military Academy from 1982 to 1984. Moellering served as assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1985 until his retirement in 1987.
