Kanara or Canara, also known as Karavali is the historically significant stretch of land situated by the southwestern coast of India, alongside the Arabian Sea in the present-day Indian state of Karnataka. The subregion comprises three civil districts, namely: Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada. Kassergode was included prior to the States Reorganisation Act.
Fort Vasai is a ruined fort of the town of Vasai (Bassein), Palghar, Maharashtra, India. The structure was formally christened as the Fort of St. Sebastian in the Indo-Portuguese era. The fort is a monument of national importance and is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
The Battle of Vasai or the Battle of Bassein was fought between the Marathas and the Portuguese rulers of Vasai, a town near Mumbai (Bombay) in the Konkan region of the present-day state of Maharashtra, India. The Marathas were led by Chimaji Appa, a brother of Peshwa Baji Rao I.
Pernem is a northmost administrative region or sub-district in North Goa. It acts as the Gateway of Goa from Maharashtra side. It is also the name of the town of Pernem, which is its headquarters. It has a Municipal Council. Geographically, Pernem is surrounded by Sawantwadi sub-district on East, Arabian Sea on West, Bardez and Bicholim sub-district on south and Sawantwadi sub-district on north. The two rivers which decide the boundary of this sub-district are Terekhol River and Chapora River. Terekhol river acts as a border of Maharashtra and Goa while Chapora river acts as a border of Pernem sub-district and Bardez sub-district.
Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort, along with a lighthouse, standing in Goa, India, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea. It is an ASI protected Monument of National Importance in Goa.
Reis Magos is a village located on the northern bank of the Mandovi River in Bardez, Goa, opposite to the capital city of Panjim. The village is famous for two of Goa’s famous structures; the Reis Magos Fort, and the Reis Magos Church – the first church in Bardez. "Reis Magos" is the Portuguese name for the Three Wise Men from the Bible.

The Terekhol or Tiracol River is a river in western India. In its upper reaches it is known as the Banda River and in the lower reaches as the Tiracol. It forms the boundary between Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra state and North Goa district of Goa state for some distance. The Terekhol rises in the environs of the Manohargad in the Western Ghats and flows in a south-westerly direction to meet the Arabian Sea.

The Goa liberation movement was a movement which fought to end Portuguese colonial rule in Goa, Portuguese India. The movement built on the small scale revolts and uprisings of the 19th century, and grew powerful during the period 1940–1961. The movement was conducted both inside and outside Goa, and was characterised by a range of tactics including nonviolent demonstrations, revolutionary methods and diplomatic efforts. However, Portuguese control of its Indian colonies ended only when India invaded and annexed Goa in 1961, causing a mixture of worldwide acclaim and condemnation, and incorporated the territories into India.
Fort Santíssima Trindade also known as Fort Tiracol, is a Portuguese era fort near the village of Tiracol, in the North Goa district of Goa, India. At the mouth of the Terekhol River, the fort can be reached by a ferry from Querim, 42 km (26 mi) north of Panaji.
Shiroda is a small village in South Konkan in Vengurla taluka, Sindhudurg district, (Maharashtra), India, with a long stretch of beach. The village is famous for its pristine beaches, weekly market, clothing shops, salt pans, fish market, and jetties. Small hillocks surround the region, along with mango and cashew plantations.

Redi is a village in the district of Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. Originally known as Rewati, Redi is located close to the shores of the Arabian Sea. Cashew and coconut trees grow in the region.
Querim Beach is the sandy coastline of the Querim village of Pernem, Goa. It is the largest northernmost beach in Goa. The beach comprises a long stretch of sand with a few rocky outcrops, rows of trees and a river inlet of Tiracol River. It is located to the north of the Arambol beach, but in order to reach there by foot, one has to walk through the hill and jungle between the Paliem Sweet Water Lake and Querim Beach. Querim is 30 Kilometers from Mapusa. From the north side of Querim beach, one can see a restaurant and bar on a high hill on the Tiracol side of the Tiracol River. There is also a resort by the name "Hotel Hill Rock" next to it, which is known for its peaceful atmosphere and has a small but well equipped Bistro on the property. On the highest most cliff at the Tiracol side is the Fort Tiracol, which is now converted into a heritage hotel.
The Maratha–Portuguese War of 1683–1684 refers to the Mahratta invasion of the Portuguese-controlled portions of Goa and also the Bombay area of the north Konkan. The conflict between the Maratha Empire and Portuguese India, continued on various fronts in between 1683–1684.
Querim or Keri is a village on the river mouth of the Tiracol River, part of the Pernem sub-division of North Goa, India. It is the northwesternmost point of the state, known for Querim Beach, the historic Church of St. Francis Xavier and a nearby Portuguese fortress.
The siege of Alorna in 1746 was a military engagement that took place in India, between Portuguese forces under the command of the Viceroy of India, Dom Pedro Miguel de Almeida Portugal, and those of the Sawantwadi State then part of the Maratha Confederacy, which were defeated. It was the crowning achievement in the career of Dom Pedro Miguel as Viceroy of India, and as a reward for his services to the Portuguese Crown he was later attributed the title Marquis of Alorna.
The Battle of Tiracol was a military engagement between Portuguese forces under the command of the Viceroy of India Dom Pedro Miguel de Almeida Portugal e Vasconcelos against the Bhonsles at Tiracol. It was part of the Novas Conquistas or "New Conquests" campaigns.
