Tirso Abraham Ornelas (born March 11,2000) is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Ornelas signed with the San Diego Padres as an international free agent on March 31,2017. [1]
On July 17,2024,the Padres added Ornelas to their 40-man roster and optioned him to the Triple–A El Paso Chihuahuas. [2] In 128 games for El Paso,he slashed .297/.367/.497 with career–highs in home runs (23) and RBI (89). Following the season,Ornelas was named San Diego's minor league player of the year. [3]
Ornelas was optioned to Triple-A El Paso to begin the 2025 season. [4] On April 19,2025,Ornelas was promoted to the major leagues for the first time. [5]
His older brother is Julián Ornelas,who plays as an outfielder for the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League. The two brothers have previously played together with the Charros de Jalisco of the Mexican Pacific League. [6] [7]
