Toakai Puapua is a Tuvaluan gymnastics and football coach and the former coach of the Tuvalu national football team. Since 2014 he has been the president of the Tuvalu National Football Association (TNFA).

Career

From 2006 up to 2008 he was coach of Tofaga A, Tofaga won the NBT in 2006 & 2007 and the Independence Cup in 2006.

In 2007, he was the football coach of Tuvalu during the 2007 South Pacific Games in Samoa. [1] The first game of his tenure was a 16-0 loss to Fiji. [2] However Tuvalu fought hard against New Caledonia (who were joint leaders of the competition) and only lost 1-0. [3] Tuvalu then drew 1–1 with Tahiti, with a late equaliser from Viliamu Sekifu, [1] [4] who becoming as the first World cup scorer for his country. [5] However the Cook Islands defeated Tuvalu 4-1. [6] Tuvalu finished last in group A, with one point. [7]

In 2011 Puapua was succeeded as coach by Foppe de Haan. [8]

In 2010, Puapua was the coach of the Tuvalu national futsal team at the Oceanian Futsal Championship 2010, [9] they finished seventh of seven teams.

Foppe Geert de Haan is a Dutch football coach. He is known for his long association with Frisian club Heerenveen. De Haan was the manager of the Tuvalu national team during 2011 and then rejoined Heerenveen's youth programme. He is also a politician for the Partij van de Arbeid.

The OFC U-19 Championship is a tournament held once every two years to decide the under-19 champions of Oceania and also decides who will represent Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) at the biennial FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The 2007 Pacific Games men's football tournament was held at the Toleafoa J.S. Blatter Complex in Apia, Samoa in from 25 August to 7 September 2007.

The 2016 OFC Nations Cup was the tenth edition of the OFC Nations Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). Moses Hedley Toata is Solomon Islander football manager and former player. He is currently the technical director of the Solomon Islands Football Federation.

Alopua Petoa is a footballer who plays as a striker for Tofaga FC. Born in Nauru, he is a Tuvalu international.
