Tomorrowland (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack to the 2015 film of the same name directed by Brad Bird. The film's musical score is provided by Michael Giacchino in his fourth successive collaboration with Bird since The Incredibles (2004). [1] Tomorrowland was scored during Giacchino's subsequent schedules with Inside Out and Jurassic World. [2] [3] The score was released digitally on May 19, 2015 and through physical formats on June 2, by Walt Disney Records. The score received generally positive reviews from critics.

Reception

Music critic Jonathan Broxton wrote "Tomorrowland pushes all the right buttons and hits all the right marks, standing as one of the year’s best scores to date." [4] Thomas Glorieux of Maintitles.net wrote "Perhaps too long for repeated listens, Tomorrowland nonetheless remains a breath of fresh air if you compare it with most scores of this year." [5] James Southall of Movie Wave wrote "Tomorrowland is right up there with Ratatouille , undoubtedly more saccharine but that’s kept in check just enough that it is never a problem [...] It’s a long album but never seems so, with constant energy and enthusiasm proving infectious." [6]

Tim Grierson of Screen International called it as "joyful" [7] while Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter stated that the score "energetically pushes things along". [8] David Edelstein of Vulture wrote "composer Michael Giacchino lovingly conjure up the kid-movie era of high-school science fairs and friendly giant robots". [9] Greg Cwilk of IndieWire called "Michael Giacchino channels John Williams for his rousing score, though he goes more for mood than themes." [10]

He has received many awards, including an Oscar for his work on Up (2009), an Emmy for his work on Lost (2004), and three Grammys for his work on Ratatouille (2007) and Up (2009). Beginning in 2018, he ventured into directing as well, and as a director is best known for Marvel Studios' Werewolf by Night.

Inside Out: Original Soundtrack is the soundtrack album to Disney/Pixar's 2015 film of the same name, produced by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by Pete Docter, the film featured musical score composed by Michael Giacchino. This is the second collaboration between Giacchino and Docter, after previously working on Up, which fetched the former, an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Giacchino termed the score as "more emotional in comparison to the score for Up" and also being "more personal" due to his experience on parenthood. The score was recorded within January and May 2015, and featured more orchestral and symphonic music accompanied by a range of instruments, from piano, guitar, drum, organ and harp.

The music featured influences of John Williams' score for earlier-Steven Spielberg directorials (Spielberg also served as the film's producer, through Amblin Entertainment) and was recorded in a short span of time.
