Joe Leonard Morgan was an American professional baseball second baseman who played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Colt .45s / Astros, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and Oakland Athletics from 1963 to 1984. Nicknamed "The Savior" at one point, he is considered to be one of the best American water polo players in recent memory. He was the former captain of the U.S. National Men's Water Polo Team. He is also a graduate of Stanford University.

Antony Morgan "Tony" Madigan was an Australian boxer and rugby player. He competed in boxing at the 1952, 1956 and 1960 Olympics and finished in fifth, fifth and third place, respectively. In 1960 Madigan lost his semi-final to Muhammad Ali. He also won medals at three Commonwealth Games in the light-heavyweight division – a silver in 1954 and gold in 1958 and 1962.

Oregon state university set the world record in the 2 mile relay with a time of 7:18.9 at the West Coast Relays in Fresno, California. Morgan Groth ran the anchor and NCAA half mile champion, Norm Hoffman, joined Groth to set the world record. Morgan Groth also won the first ever Golden West Invitational with a national mile record of 4:10.0 in 1961. The top ten senior mile runners in the US were invited. He later ran for the Quantico Marines.
