[1] He was the main soccer sportscaster for Spanish International Network (SIN), the forerunner to Univision, during the 1980s before moving to Telemundo from 1987 to 1994. He covered the 1986 World Cup for SIN [1] alongside Norberto Longo and Jorge Berry.

The 1982 match between Scotland and New Zealand marked the second ever World Cup match supervised by an American referee after Henry Landauer in 1970. Socha played in the semiprofessional leagues of the United States and two seasons for Portsmouth in the 1950s.
