Tour de Berne is an elite professional road bicycle racing event held in Bern, Switzerland with races for men and women.
The men's event began in 1920 and has previously been a UCI 1.2 rated event on the UCI Europe Tour.
The women's Tour de Berne is an elite professional event and since 2005 has been elevated to the UCI Women's Road Cycling World Cup. The race is six laps of a 20.8 km (12.9 mi) city circuit for 124.8 km (77.5 mi) total distance.

The Hamburg Cyclassics is an annual one-day professional and amateur cycling race in and around Hamburg, Germany. Although the route varies, its distance is always around 250 km. The course's most significant difficulty is Waseberg hill in Blankenese, which is addressed three times in the race finale.
Bieler Tagblatt is a Swiss Standard German language daily newspaper, published by Gassmann AG in Biel/Bienne, Canton of Bern. Garmin–Cervélo was an elite professional women's cycling team registered in Great Britain and racing on the UCI Women's Road World Cup circuit. When the men's Cervélo TestTeam merged with Garmin–Transitions for the 2011 season, the team changed names again, becoming Garmin–Cervélo to again match the men's team. In 2007, the team was known as Raleigh-Lifeforce-Creation and prior to 2007, the team was known as the Univega Pro Cycling Team.
Martin Elmiger is a Swiss former road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2001 and 2017 for the Post Swiss Team, Phonak, Ag2r–La Mondiale, IAM Cycling and BMC Racing Team squads. During his career, Elmiger was a four-time winner of the Swiss National Road Race Championships.
Nicole Brändli is a professional cyclist from Switzerland. She is a three-time winner of Giro d'Italia Femminile. She was the Swiss National Road Race champion in 2001, 2002 and 2003. She also competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Team Vorarlberg is a cycling team based in Austria. The team was founded in 1999 by the twin brothers Thomas Kofler and Johannes Kofler and previously known as Team Volksbank. In 2009, the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg replaced Volksbank as title sponsor. In 2006 it became the first ever Austrian professional cycling team and was registered as a UCI Professional Continental team until June 2010, when their UCI license was suspended due to financial insecurity. The team was later re-registered as a UCI Continental team, and retained that status in 2011.

In the years from 1966 to 2007, it was considered one of the biggest sporting events in Rhineland-Palatinate. No other city was as often the stage destination of the Rheinland-Pfalz Rundfahrt as Bad Marienberg.

Bastianelli won the women's road race at the 2007 UCI Road World Championships ahead of Marianne Vos and Giorgia Bronzini, and also won the equivalent race at the 2018 European Road Cycling Championships, again beating Vos.
Niki Aebersold is a Swiss former professional road bicycle racer who rode for UCI ProTeam Phonak Hearing Systems from May 2003 to 2005. He was the Swiss National Road Race champion in 1998.

The 2019 UCI Road World Championships was the 92nd edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. It took place between 22 and 29 September 2019 in the historic county of Yorkshire, United Kingdom, the fourth to be held in the United Kingdom. The championships are traditionally hosted by a single town or city but, while each event in 2019 finished in the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate, the whole historic county of Yorkshire was the official host. Heavy rainfall caused some of the events to be re-routed and delayed.

As a politician, he served on the National Council from November 2017 to December 2023 as a member of The Liberals and he was the president of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme from 2017 until early 2021. He competed as a professional racing cyclist from 1985 to 1994.
