Trenton James Bray (born September 28, 1982) is an American football coach who is the head football coach at Oregon State University. He previously served as the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Oregon State University from 2022 to 2023.
Bray played college football at Oregon State University from 2002 to 2005. Prior to his tenure at the Oregon State University, Bray previously served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Arizona State University.
Bray was a standout linebacker for the Oregon State Beavers from 2002 to 2005, starting 34 of 49 career games. As a junior in 2004, he collected 122 tackles and was named Second-Team All-Pac-10. He also earned Insight Bowl Defensive MVP honors by making an Oregon State-bowl record 10 tackles in a victory over Notre Dame. He was selected a co-captain of the Beaver football team as a senior, and he backed it up with another terrific season, recording 116 tackles and earning First-Team All-Pac-10 honors. Bray finished his collegiate career with 337 tackles, the sixth-highest total in Oregon State history, 29.0 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks while making 33 consecutive starts over his final three seasons in Corvallis.
In 2008, Bray began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Arizona State University under head coach Dennis Erickson.
In 2009, Bray served as the linebackers coach for the California Redwoods of the United Football League (UFL). [1]
In 2010, Bray returned to Arizona State University as their linebackers coach under head coach Dennis Erickson.
In 2012, Bray was hired as a graduate assistant and linebackers coach at Oregon State University under head coach Mike Riley.
In 2015, Bray was hired as the linebackers coach at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, following head coach Mike Riley. On November 25, 2017, Bray was named interim head coach following the firing of Riley. [2] He was relieved of interim duties at Nebraska after the school hired Scott Frost as head coach on December 2, 2017. [3]
In 2018, Bray was hired as the linebackers coach at Oregon State University under head coach Jonathan Smith. Midway through the 2021 season, Bray was promoted to interim defensive coordinator after the firing of Tim Tibesar. The interim title was removed after the regular season and Bray was promoted to defensive coordinator and linebacker coach in 2022. [4] [5]
On November 28, 2023, Bray was named the head coach at Oregon State University, replacing Jonathan Smith, who left to become the head coach of Michigan State. [6]

Michael Joseph Riley is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach of the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL). He has previously served as the head coach of two college football programs: Oregon State and Nebraska (2015–2017). Riley has also been the head coach of teams in four different professional leagues: the Canadian Football League (CFL), World League of American Football (WLAF), National Football League (NFL), and Alliance of American Football (AAF). He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 1970s.
Richard Joseph Seigler is an American former professional football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted out of Oregon State University in 2004 by the San Francisco 49ers. In November 2005, he was acquired by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was on the Super Bowl XL-winning Steelers team. He finished up his playing years with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL.
Michael Joseph Stoops is an American football coach and former player, who is the inside linebackers coach at the University of Kentucky. Stoops also served as the head football coach at the University of Arizona from 2003 until his firing during the 2011 season. He previously served as an assistant football coach at the University of Iowa, Kansas State University, and University of Oklahoma. He is the younger brother of Bob Stoops, the former head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners football program, and the older brother of Mark Stoops, head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats football program. He returned to Oklahoma as the defensive coordinator in 2012. He served in the position until he was fired on October 7, 2018. After spending time at the University of Alabama as an analyst, he spent one season as the defensive coordinator of the Florida Atlantic Owls in 2021.
Dennis Brian Erickson is an American football coach who most recently served as the head coach for the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) league. He was also the head coach at the University of Idaho, the University of Wyoming (1986), Washington State University (1987–1988), the University of Miami (1989–1994), Oregon State University (1999–2002), and Arizona State University (2007–2011). During his tenure at Miami, Erickson's teams won two national championships, in 1989 and 1991. His record as a college football head coach is 179–96–1 (.650).

Previously, he served the defensive coordinator of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Oregon State Beavers and the San Diego Chargers.
Robb Alan Akey is an American football coach. He is the defensive coordinator at Central Michigan University, a position he had held since 2019. Akey served as the head football coach at the University of Idaho from 2007 to 2012.

The 2011 Pac-12 Conference football season began on September 1, 2011 with Montana State at Utah and UC Davis at Arizona State. The conference's first game was played on September 10 with Utah at USC, and the final game played was the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday, December 2. Oregon defeated UCLA to claim their third straight conference title. This is the first season for the conference as a 12-team league. In July 2011, Colorado and Utah joined the conference, at which time the league's name changed from the Pacific-10 Conference.
Jonathan Charles Smith is an American college football coach who is currently the head coach at Michigan State University. He was previously the head coach for six seasons at his alma mater, Oregon State University. As a player, he was a four-year starter at quarterback for the Beavers under head coaches Mike Riley and Dennis Erickson.
Keith Heyward Jr. is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator for the Oregon State Beavers of the Pac-12 (NCAA). His football career began at his alma mater, Oregon State, where he started 35 consecutive games as a cornerback for the Beavers. After completing his 4th season with Oregon State, Heyward played professionally. His coaching career kicked off after his professional endeavors, with his most recent coaching positions at the University of Southern California (2014-2015), the University of Washington (2012-2013), the University of Louisville (2016), the University of Oregon (2017-2020), the University of California (2021) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2022).
