The United States Football League (USFL) was a professional American football league that played for three seasons, 1983 through 1985. The league played a spring/summer schedule in each of its active seasons. The 1986 season was scheduled to be played in the autumn/winter, directly competing against the long-established National Football League (NFL). However, the USFL ceased operations before that season was scheduled to begin.

Most notably, he was the Seahawks vice president of football operations from 2010 to 2012.

Sankar Jerome Montoute is a Trinidadian former American football linebacker who played one season in the National Football League (NFL) for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Born in Trinidad, he moved to New York City as a child and attended St. John's Military Academy in Wisconsin. He played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers before transferring to Saint Leo University, where he played three years of college basketball. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 1984 and after a brief stint there, played for the Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League (USFL) in 1985. He was a member of the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL) for part of 1987 before joining the Buccaneers later that year as a replacement player.

Ta'amu has been a member of several National Football League (NFL) teams and has started for the St. Louis BattleHawks and Defenders of the XFL and Tampa Bay Bandits of the United States Football League (USFL). With the Bandits, he led the 2022 USFL season in passing yardage and touchdowns. Ta'amu was named XFL Offensive Player of the Year following the 2023 XFL season with the Defenders.
