Patrick Aloysius Ewing Sr. is a Jamaican-American basketball coach and former professional player who last coached for the Georgetown University men's team. He played most of his career as the starting center for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) before ending his playing career with brief stints with the Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic. Ewing is regarded as one of the greatest centers of all time, playing a dominant role in the New York Knicks 1990s success.

John Logan Jenkins III is an American professional basketball player for Bàsquet Girona of the Liga ACB. A shooting guard, Jenkins was a two-time TSSAA Class AA Mr. Basketball selection, and was the Gatorade Tennessee High School Player of the Year in 2008–09. He played college basketball at Vanderbilt. He was drafted with the 23rd pick in the 2012 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks.
The East Tennessee State Buccaneers men's basketball team represents East Tennessee State University (ETSU), located in Johnson City, Tennessee, in men's college basketball. East Tennessee State is coached by Brooks Savage and currently competes in the Southern Conference. The team last played in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 2017. In March 2020 the Buccaneers won the SoCon championship.

Timothy Duane Hardaway Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Dimeco Childress is an American former basketball player. He is known for his collegiate career at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) between 1998–99 and 2001–02. During his four years as a Buccaneer he scored 1,287 points and twice led the team in scoring. As a senior in 2001–02 he led the team 17.5 points per game and 75 total assists. On February 16, 2002 Childress scored a career-high 42 points, good enough for the third-highest single game output in ETSU history. That season, the Buccaneers went 11–5 in Southern Conference (SoCon) play, tying them for first place in the North Division. The SoCon coaches selected Childress as their player of the year; due to the conference's media choosing VMI's Jason Conley as their player of the year, the two players shared the award in 2001–02.
Zakee Wadood is an American professional basketball player. After graduating from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in 2004, Wadood has played in leagues in Finland, Spain and Luxembourg.
Justin Tubbs is an American professional basketball player who is currently playing for Beirut Club of the Lebanese Basketball League. He was selected by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers as the 115th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft. Tubbs played at the collegiate level with Alabama and East Tennessee State, known as one of the best pure athletes in the Atlantic Sun Conference following his transfer. He also represented Hewitt-Trussville High School through his early years. Following the 2011 NBA draft, Tubbs signed with MIA Academy.
