Truman "Tru" Valentino (born December 8, 1988) is an American actor. He is known for playing Aaron Thorsen in The Rookie , [2] Cuphead in The Cuphead Show! , [3] Adam in Psychonauts 2 , and Jack in the 2022 Crunchyroll anime series FreakAngels .

Early life

Tru Valentino was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on December 8, 1988, to two African-American war veterans who were stationed in the country. He moved with them to Waynesville, Missouri in the United States when he was an infant, where he graduated from Waynesville High School. [1] Valentino earned a degree for acting when he graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Career

He is a member of the Sunday Company at the Groundlings Theatre and School of Los Angeles, and has been featured as a guest in many of their spectacles, including the improvisation show Cookin' With Gas and the sketch live-show Sunday Night Fever. [1] Most recently, he played Cyborg in Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen . [4]

The Groundlings is an American improvisational and sketch comedy troupe and school based in Los Angeles, California. The troupe was formed by Gary Austin in 1974 and uses an improv format influenced by Viola Spolin, whose improv techniques were taught by Del Close and other members of the Second City, located in Chicago and later St. Louis. They used these techniques to produce sketches and improvised scenes. Its name is taken from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act III, Scene II: "...to split the ears of the groundlings, who for the most part are capable of nothing but inexplicable dumbshows and noise." In 1975 the troupe purchased and moved into its location on Melrose Avenue.
