Trujillo Marinera Festival [1] is a Peruvian cultural event held annually in Trujillo city in January. The event focuses on a dance contest called the marinera, a typical dance of the city and of the country. The festival also presents parades, presentations and competitions of Peruvian paso horses. Both the marinera dance and the Peruvian paso horse have been declared to be part of the cultural heritage of the nation by the Peruvian government. [2] [3] This festival is one of the most important cultural events and representative of the country and Trujillo city has been recognized by the Peruvian government as the National Capital Marinera by Law Number 24447, of January 24, 1986. Trujillo is home to the marinera national competition each year. It is a typical dance of the city, organized by the Trujillo Club Libertad and it is performed in the last week of January. Many dance partners from different parts of the country and foreign guests come to the contest every year to compete in the categories of the competition that draws thousands of tourists from around the world. It also highlights the corso through the main streets of the Historic Centre [5] that ends in main Square of Trujillo and the presentation of the typical Peruvian paso in the city. [6] The festival begins with the presentation of the Queen that represents this Marinera Festival then it happen several cultural events for the public attending the festival.

Marinera contest

The National Marinera Contest is held every year during the month of January, in the city of Trujillo. Are presented pairs of dancers from around the country competing in different categories. Dances are entertained by bands of musicians in the city.

Parade

It takes place in the streets of the Historic Centre of Trujillo. The dancers and queens participate in this parade with cars decorated with things for the festival, the parade ends in the Plaza de Armas of Trujillo with dances of marinera.

The Peruvian Horse is a breed of light saddle horse known for its smooth ride. It is distinguished by a natural, four-beat, lateral gait called the paso llano. The Week anniversary of Trujillo Municipality also called Trujillo Jubilee Week is a celebration held the first week of March in the Peruvian city of Trujillo. This week of celebration has as central day on March 5 of every year in commemoration to the installation of the first cabildo in the city made in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro. Open Plaza Los jardines is a shopping center of 25,000 m² located in the Peruvian city of Trujillo, in the locality called Los Jardines, east of the Historic Centre of Trujillo. It belongs to Malls Peru is owned business unit of Falabella Perú. This mall, called format Power Center by the same company, is characterized by at least four local anchor present here as Sodimac and Tottus hypermarkets, smaller operators are also present around anchor stores such as Do it, Coolbox, Boticas BTL, Topitop, etc. and a food court and a Financial Boulevard. This mall was built on what was the former Los Jardines Hotel and it opened on December 3, 2008 with an investment of 26 million dollars. Open Plaza Los Jardines is the 5th mall that Malls Peru company has constructed in the country.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Plazuela El Recreo</span>

The Plazuela El Recreo is a traditional square located in the Peruvian city of Trujillo in La Libertad Region in northern Peru. Situated at the 8th block of the Pizarro street in the Historic Centre of Trujillo in this square are held cultural shows and in March 2012 was the scenery of Trujillo Book Festival. The square has high ficus around. This square has been declared Monumental Heritage of the Nation by the National Institute of Culture of Peru.

Caja Trujillo, is a Peruvian banking company centered in Trujillo city in the financial sector and currently It is the largest financial company locally, began to operate and provide services in 1985. Up to year 2012 this company has agencies service installed in different regions of the coast and highlands of the Peru providing financial attention mainly to small and medium entrepreneurs in the SME sector. According to a study published in 2010 by the magazine Peru Económico it is one representative mark of the city.
