The Dongcheng District of Beijing covers the eastern half of Beijing's urban core, including all of the eastern half of the Old City inside of the 2nd Ring Road with the northernmost extent crossing into the area within the 3rd Ring Road. Its 40.6 km2 (15.7 sq mi) area is further subdivided into 17 subdistricts.
Shunyi District is an administrative district of Beijing, located to the northeast of the city's urban core. As of 2014, the population of the district is around 983,000, of which approximately 601,000 have local residency permits. The Beijing Capital International Airport is located in the geographical boundaries of the district, though it is technically under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang district. Shunyi borders the Beijing districts of Pinggu to the east, Tongzhou to the south, Chaoyang to the southwest, Changping to the west, Huairou to the north, and Miyun to the northeast, as well as Hebei province to the southeast.
Chengde, formerly known as Jehol and Rehe, is a prefecture-level city in Hebei province, situated about 225 km northeast of Beijing. It is best known as the site of the Mountain Resort, a vast imperial garden and palace formerly used by the Qing emperors as summer residence. The permanent resident population is approximately 3,473,200 in 2017.

The Olympic Forest Park is a large, man-made nature park situated at the north end of the Olympic Green in Beijing. Built for the 2008 Summer Olympics, the park has two parts: the southern part is oval in shape and features Aohai lake in the center, and the northern side has a mountain that gives an excellent view of this part of the city. The northern part is outside of the 5th Ring Road. The park was designed by Sasaki and implemented by the Tsinghua Landscape Design Institute.
Shifoying literally the "Stone Buddha Encampment", is a residential neighborhood in the Balizhuang Subdistrict of Chaoyang District in Beijing. The neighborhood is bound to the west by the Eastern Fourth Ring Road, to the east by the Beijing-Baotou Railway, to the north by Yaojiayuan Lu and to the south by Shilipu. Within Shifoying, the neighborhood is bisected by Shifoying Lu into two sub-neighborhoods, Shifoying Dongli and Shifoying Xili.
Taikoo Li Sanlitun, formerly Sanlitun Village, is a shopping center in the Sanlitun area of the Chaoyang District in Beijing, China. It comprises 19 buildings on two sites that are a few minutes walk from each other. Besides retail space, the project includes a 99-room boutique hotel, The Opposite House (瑜舍).
Yuyuantan Park is one of major urban parks in the city of Beijing. This park covers a territory of about 137 hectares, 61 of which are covered by water. Yuyuantan is the largest water body in the park. The park is located between the western segment of the Third Ring Road and Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. The China Millennium Monument is located just to the south of the park, and the Chinese Navy Hospital is to the north of the park. Central Radio & TV Tower can be viewed in the park.
Lotus Pond Park is a major urban park in Beijing, China. It is located in the western part of the city and covers an area of around 53.6 hectares. It is right next to the Beijing West railway station and the Third Ring Road. The main part of this park is the lake of Lianhuachi, which literally means Lotus Pond. This lake is believed to be the most important water source of ancient Beijing city since the Zhou dynasty. As mentioned in the Commentary on the Water Classic, a masterpiece of geographic record in ancient China, water from this lake supported Beijing from the very beginning of the city history until the Yuan dynasty (1276–1368), during which the city of Beijing was rebuilt and shifted towards northeast a bit, and the lake lost its importance as the water source.
Longtan Lake Park, is a recreational urban park located in Dongcheng District of Beijing, just east of the Temple of Heaven. It is one of the largest modern parks inside the 2nd Ring Road of Beijing. There is also a large outdoor bird market in the park. Located at the center of the park is a large lake called which features many moon bridges, rock gardens, dragon boats, tea houses and restaurants. '
Yaowa Lake Park is a major public urban park in eastern Beijing. It is the only public comprehensive park in Nanmofang region of Beijing. The 4th Ring Road of Beijing cuts through the park and divides it into two halves. The Yaowa Lake is in the eastern half of the park. In Qing Dynasty, people grubbed mud in eastern Beijing to make bricks. Two big caves are created near today's Huagong Road. Then, rain water impounded in these two caves and made them two lakes. The northern lake later became the cooling pond of Beijing Thermal Power Plant, and the southern lake was named as Yaowa Lake, and later preserved to be the public park.
Tuanjie Lake is a lake in the southeastern Qarhan Playa north of Golmud in the Haixi Prefecture of Qinghai Province in northwestern China. It is fed from the south by the Shougong River. Like the other lakes of the surrounding Qaidam Basin, it is extremely saline.
Suli or Senie Lake is a lake in the western Qarhan Playa north of Golmud in the Haixi Prefecture of Qinghai Province in northwestern China. It is fed from the west by the Urt Moron River. Like the other lakes of the surrounding Qaidam Basin, it is extremely saline; like the other lakes of the surrounding Bieletan subbasin, it is rich in lithium. Its underlying salt has also trapped one of China's largest onshore natural gas fields.
